In addition, premature wear is possible due to the tight movement of the glass, which can be caused by misalignment of the guides, the presence of a foreign object in the door, or problems in the gearbox itself.

Broken cable

One of the malfunctions of a mechanical window lifter is a broken cable. It manifests itself in the same way as in case of a handle malfunction, i.e. in the form of free rotation of the handle. Since the cable is not sold as a separate part, the power window will have to be completely replaced in this case. Attempts to restore the cliff will require a lot of time and effort, and the low cost of the device in question, which is about 200–300 rubles, indicates the inexpediency of repair.

Gearbox breakage

The design of the power window is such that the gears of the gearbox may wear out over time, i.e., their teeth are tritely erased due to the softness of the metal. As a result, the mechanism runs idle, while the cable and glass do not move. It is possible to replace a worn gear by removing it from an old window lifter, but it is still better to install a new product that will last much longer than a refurbished one.

Sometimes, when the window is raised or lowered, the device may make sounds similar to rattle. The reason may be the lack of lubrication or damage to one of the tension rollers, which is simply frayed by the cable, as a result of which the cable is wedged inside the roller. In this case, the latter will have to be replaced. If the appearance of a rattle is caused by a lack of lubricant, then you just need to apply lubricant, for example, Litol-24, both to the gearbox itself and to the cable with rollers.

When the door glass is lowered, the abrasive substances on it act on the surface, scratching it and making a characteristic creak. Although the design of the doors provides for special velvet (glass seals), which are designed to protect the glass from scratching with dust and sand, but over time they wear out and do not do their job well. Therefore, if a characteristic creak appears, it is better to replace the glass seals.

Since window lift repair in most cases involves replacing the mechanism, it is worth considering a step-by-step process from removal to installation. To do this, you need the following list of tools:

• heads or keys for 8 and 10;
• extension;
• ratchet handle;
• flat and Phillips screwdrivers.

Removing the power window

The procedure for removing the device from the car is as follows:

1. We pry off with a screwdriver and take out the plugs on the armrest.

2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the fastening of the armrest to the door and remove it.

3. We remove the lining of the window lifter handle, for which we insert a flat screwdriver between the socket and the lining element.

6. We start a slotted screwdriver and push out 7 clips that hold the door trim on the sides.

8. Fully lower the glass and unscrew the cable clamp with a Phillips screwdriver.

9. We unscrew the fastening of the tension roller, after which we shift it and weaken the tension of the power window cable.

12. If the tension roller has become unusable, which can be determined by its external condition, then we completely unscrew its mount to replace it with a new part.

Replacing the rollers

Window lifter rollers fail over time. Since the most problematic is the replacement of the upper element, we will dwell on this process in more detail. The part to the door is fixed with hooks in the upper part, and by welding in the lower part. To work, you will need the following set of tools:

• set of drills;
• electric drill;
• flat screwdriver;
• a hammer;
• new video.

1. To remove the roller, we drill out the metal at the place where the plate is attached with a 4 mm drill.
2. Inside the door we drive a flat screwdriver under the roller plate and knock it down with hammer blows, dismantling the roller.

Power window installation

Before installing a new power window, check that the rollers rotate freely. If required, lubricate them with Litol. The bracket that secures the cable should not be removed in advance so as not to confuse the mechanism, since it will be quite problematic to return everything to its original position. Installation is carried out as follows:

1. We install the window regulator in place, fixing it with nuts.
2. We remove the bracket and start the cable on the rollers according to the scheme.
   

   The power window cable must pass through the rollers in a certain pattern.
3. We adjust the tension of the cable with the corresponding roller and tighten the fastening of the latter.
4. We fix the cable to the glass.

5. We check the performance of the mechanism.
6. We install the upholstery and the door handle, as well as the window lifter handle.

How to Install
