Streetmate and Cityskater: when Volkswagen goes electric two-wheelers

In addition to the ID Vizzion electric sedan, Volkswagen has unveiled the all-electric two-wheelers Streetmate and Cityskater at the last Geneva Motor Show.

The scooter, which features the ability to fly while sitting or standing, the Streetmate is powered by a small 2 kW motor. The Streetmate, integrated into the rear wheel, is powered by a removable 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery and weighs just 65 kg. In terms of performance, it delivers a top speed of up to 45 km / h and a range of up to 35 km with a full tank.

Closer to the scooter, the Cityskater is mounted on three wheels - two in the front and one in the back - and is the preferred solution for city rides. At the same time compact, foldable and lightweight (11.9 kg), it can carry up to 120 kg. On the electrical side, it uses a 450W motor connected to a 200Wh battery.

In terms of performance, the top speed is limited to 20 km/h and the range is roughly fifteen kilometers, which is more than enough for the city trips it's designed for. The Volkswagen Cityskater is expected to go through homologation later this year. At the moment, the manufacturer does not indicate its selling price.
