LPG will become more expensive, but installing a gas plant will still be profitable

LPG will become more expensive, but installing a gas plant will still be profitable As early as next week, autogas prices will begin to rise, the increase may reach up to 30 pennies per liter!

LPG will become more expensive, but installing a gas plant will still be profitable

- The reason for the changes is the new export duty rate for LPG in Russia, which will be in effect next week. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev raised it from $76,2 to $172,5 per ton. Per liter of gas, this gives an increase of about PLN 30, explains Zygmunt Soberalski, President of the Polish Chamber of LPG.

For Polish drivers, this means a big problem, because most LPG comes to Poland from Russia. - Last year, half of the imports came from this country. Another 32 percent are purchases in Kazakhstan, and 10 percent - in Belarus, - calculates Jakub Bogutsky, fuel market analyst at the e-petrol.pl portal.

According to market analysts, the size of the increase at Polish filling stations will depend primarily on the decisions of Russian LPG producers, which will reduce their obligations to pay higher export duties.

- If a new rate is calculated in the price of fuel, a liter of gasoline at our stations will rise in price by 30-35 groszy. But there is also the option of distributing costs between the exporter and importer. Then the price of gas will rise by 15-20 groszy, President Soberalsky predicts.

According to Yakub Bogutsky, an increase of a dozen or so pennies is more likely:

– Because the LPG market in Poland is resistant to change. In the case of gasoline and diesel, a smooth movement in bulk is enough, and drivers will immediately feel the changes at the stations. With gas, it's different. Example? Since August, the average price in Poland has remained at PLN 2,72. Despite the fact that a ton of gas from wholesalers has risen in price from PLN 3260 to PLN 3700, which is a lot.

With an increase of PLN 15, filling a 60-liter bottle installed instead of a spare wheel will cost PLN 9. With an average gasoline consumption of 15 liters per hundred, this means a loss of PLN 22,5 per 1000 km. If the price of gas increased by PLN 35, we will pay PLN 21 more for the same bottle. For a thousand kilometers, the loss will amount to as much as 52,5 zł.

- It would seem not much, but with the current ever-higher prices for energy, food and services, every penny counts. Moreover, converting a car to gas is also a considerable expense, often exceeding XNUMX zł, says Tomasz Zdebik, a driver from Rzeszow.

According to Wojciech Zielinski, co-owner of the Awres service in Rzeszow, despite the growth, gas will still be popular. Because unleaded gasoline is still much more expensive.

“Drivers are still eager to convert cars because, despite the increase, petrol remains half the price of petrol. The proposed increase will not change this, the price of gasoline is also expected to rise by the end of the year, analysts predict that the limit of PLN 6 per liter will be broken in December. Even with a 10-15% increase in gas consumption, the owner of a car running on liquefied gas drives 40-50% cheaper, says Zeliński.

At today's fuel prices, the installation of the unit for PLN 2600-11000 will pay off in about 1600-7000 km. A simpler system for about PLN 5000 will pay for itself in about XNUMX km. Thus, with an average annual mileage of XNUMX km, this is a maximum of two years.

An announced increase in excise taxes on this fuel may also discourage drivers from installing gas installations. The proposal of the European Commission differentiates the amount of taxes depending on the energy efficiency of the fuel and the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the environment by vehicles running on them. If in the case of gasoline the rate remains at the current level, and for diesel fuel it increases only slightly, then for liquefied petroleum gas it will jump from 125 to 500 euros per ton. Then the price of a liter of gas will increase to about PLN 4 per liter. According to e-petrol.pl analysts, the chances of a change in the rate are still small. Even if the proposal is implemented, the price increase will be gradual. In all countries of the European Union there will be a transitional period for tax increases.
