Dry car wash: pros and cons

What to do if you really need to wash your car, but there is no way to do it at the car wash? In this case, auto chemicals come to the aid of motorists, with the help of which you can build a marafet without the use of water: the so-called dry body wash. Advertising says that the method is working and effective, and most importantly, it is cheaper than the usual "autobahn". But do not flatter yourself and believe everything that marketers say. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out all the pros and cons of the dry cleaning method.

At one time, this service was offered by enterprising young people in shopping mall parking lots. Which, in principle, was quite convenient - while the owner of the car is exploring the galleries of the hypermarket, his car becomes clean in a matter of minutes. The method is also used by those who live away from traditional sinks or simply save money. But, like everywhere else, washing without the use of water has both pros and cons that prevail.

We will not go into the chemical processes that occur when detergent is applied to a dirty body - advertising tells something about molecular interactions. But the dirt does wash off. In addition, the product is suitable for cleaning the interior and even the engine compartment (you should still read the instructions carefully before use). And after washing, a protective layer is formed on the body akin to what occurs during polishing. However, this is where the advantages of dry cleaning end.

In the rainy-snowy season, when the roads are dirty and wet, a very decent coating forms on the body, against which a dry wash is powerless. Moreover, attempts to take the dirt impudently lead to damage to the paintwork. And the most diligent will be able to prepare the body for painting, just using a microfiber cloth.

The tool does not work with bituminous stains either. So if you drove a repaired section of the road and fastened them to the body, you will have to spend money on another special tool.

But especially intense dances with a tambourine begin when it comes to properly washing the joints of body parts, where an abundance of dirt is traditionally observed. A similar washing method does not work here either. The reason is the inability to wash out the used product and the amount of pollution that it has collected.

Dry washing is akin to a crutch - it solves the problem of cleanliness selectively and not always with high quality. Of course, the method has the right to life, but only when the dirt on the body of your car is not old. For example, on the way to work, a “swallow” was doused with water by a cleaning machine. But even here there is a risk of spoiling the paintwork, for polishing which, even at a cheap car wash, you will be charged a decent amount of money.
