Super Bowl 2020: Here are the best car ads

Automotive brands spend millions on seconds of air time during the Super Bowl each year, but quality can be a hit.

The Kansas City Chiefs took home the NFL's top prize in the 2020 Super Bowl yesterday, but there was no clear winner in the battle between auto companies for the best TV commercial.

Automakers are spending millions and hiring the biggest names in Hollywood to help sell cars during one of the biggest TV events of the year. This year's game was no different, with ads from several major brands doing their best to create a catchy cutscene.

Here is a rundown of each commercial, be sure to let us know your favorite in the comments or on social media.

Evans was joined by fellow New England comedian Rachel Dratch and actor John Krasinski to poke fun at the stereotypical Boston accent, with the three calling the Sonata's smart autonomous parking feature "Smaht Park".

Genesis GV80

Hyundai hasn't skimped on star power for its Genesis brand, hiring musician John Legend and his model and author wife Chrissy Teigen. The premise of the ad is that a young power couple is hosting an "old luxury" farewell party in an attempt to turn a South Korean brand into a "fun" luxury car company.

Kia Seltos

Not all Super Bowl ads are funny, and Kia took a more serious approach with their "Tough Never Quits" ad. The article focuses on Josh Jacobs, who grew up homeless at times in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but still managed to become a player for the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders.

It's a touching story, even though the Seltos compact SUV doesn't fit the idea of "cool."

Toyota Highlander (aka Kluger)

The Japanese brand put on a real Hollywood spectacle to promote its new seven-seater SUV, loading it with special effects and drama.

Marvel star Cobie Smulders spends a 60-second ad coming just in time to save people from danger in a spacious new family hauler. Monsters, cowboys and lethal gas are all there to try and catch the attention of football fans during the game.

Instead, GM opted for a lot of black and white shots of horses, cars, and silence to capture the sense of drama around their all-new model. James speaks with motivational phrases such as "Zero limits. No compromises,” but most importantly, we get a glimpse of the GMC Hummer grille and get confirmation that it will be officially unveiled on May 20th.
