Super Cruise withdraws from Cadillac Escalade due to chip shortage

GM's Super Cruise driver assistance system will no longer be offered in the new 2022 Cadillac Escalade configuration. Chip shortages have prompted the company to delay the option to consumers.

It's still with us, and this year the automotive engineers and purchasing departments have been working hard to get as many cars out as possible. Along the way, all sorts of features fade into the background as automakers just can't get their hands on the parts to build them. The latest unexpected casualty was GM's Super Cruise driver assistance system, which was removed from the 2022 Cadillac Escalade's options list..

Cadillac has confirmed this information.

In an official statement, a Cadillac spokesperson stated that "Super Cruise is an important feature of the Cadillac Escalade program. Although temporarily unavailable at the start of normal production due to a shortage of semiconductors Industry-wide, we have confidence in our team's ability to come up with creative solutions to ease the supply chain and get this feature back up and running to our customers as soon as possible.

Super Cruise is one of the best modern driving systems.

GM Super Cruise is one of the leading driver assistance systems available on the market today. Unlike its competitors, it was the first system to allow hands-free driving. and can be used on 200,000 miles of US highway.

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade still requires drivers to keep their eyes on the road, but the experience it provides is vastly different from conventional driving. Summing up the system Super Cruise is not something you won't want to live without after you try it.. It's not a fully autonomous self-driving system like its competitors, but...

Shortage leaves Super Cruise almost completely out of sight

The temporary removal of the option leaves Super Cruise almost entirely off the market at this time. Since production is on hold due to battery issues, it is also not available there. According to the company's online configurator, the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans continue to offer the Super Cruise package for V-series models.

Super Cruise coming to Cadillac sedans

Cadillac has noted that the Super Cruise will be available in the future in its sedan lineup. Stefan Kruse, Cadillac Communications brand and product spokesman for sedans, said: “While we have built several CT21 and CT4 5MY models with Super Cruise, semiconductor shortages have caused us to delay the full launch of Super Cruise in our sedans until 22MY. . Now 4MY CT5s and CT22s will be available with Super Cruise in the first half of next year.”

For those looking to get behind the wheel of Cadillac's flagship SUV, the options currently available are to opt out of Super Cruise or wait until it's available again. This might be an easier solution for those who haven't tried the system yet. It's easier to miss something you never had.
