Suzuki Jimny 1.5 LX DDiS 4X4 Air Conditioner with ABS

So Jimny is special among SUVs. As you can see, it's really small. Technical data shows that it measures 3625 millimeters long, 1600 millimeters wide and 1705 millimeters high. Do you still find it so small? Yes, looks are deceiving. The car is not really a baby compared to the average passenger cars of the middle class. Aside from a large six-seat SUV, they fall into the heavy category both in terms of size and price. On the other hand, Suzuki is not half price for half price.

Talking about roominess and size, let's finish this chapter. Sitting in Jimny is pretty decent for two (driver and co-driver). The door is slightly closed, and broad-shouldered motorists will feel a little cramped in width at first, but luckily for Jimny, that feeling doesn't bother too much. After sitting behind the wheel for a while, we found that turning the steering wheel did not interfere with this. But something completely different on the back bench.

There is room for two adult passengers, who, however, hit their heads on the roof every time the car passes a hole or a hill. Luckily, the Jimny has a canvas roof, so getting to know it up close is painless. In fact, the back bench is more than anything else. On short distances, there will be no problems in the back, and for riding a little more than an hour (when wrinkled legs start to hurt), the rear bench is not suitable. The kids in the back won't have a problem. However, if that bothers you, you might want to look at its space in the back (accessing the rear bench isn't easy either) in a different way.

Jimny can also be double. Fold or even remove the rear bench and you have a reasonably large trunk. Well, in truth, in this case, you will just get to the trunk. With a conventional rear bench seat, the base trunk is just two large bags of luggage. We can't even talk about its usefulness. If all this bothers you, if you are not satisfied with the small size of the trunk, then the Jimny is simply not for you. Simply because Jimny is who he is.

The Jimny Convertible, the smallest of Suzuki's SUVs, literally shines when driving around the city or along the waterfront. The open roof allows you to communicate directly with the girls or vice versa. But where does it say that such a machine is only for men? At times like this, it captivates with its charming exterior, which is a successful combination of modern design and off-road classics, reflected in the off-road grille and headlights. Since summer does not last all year, maybe someone will ask, but in winter - a canvas roof?

They write that it is flawless, but when closing the rear part, there is a little lack of comfort, otherwise it never let water and wind inside the car when driving in frost and rain. In this respect, it deserves the highest praise. While we haven't tested it in the summer heat, we think the Jimny is no problem as the air conditioner works quickly and efficiently.

Jimny is also extremely effective on the pitch. Put him in front of even the steepest obstacle, he will easily overcome it. Anyone who underestimates it in terms of off-road capability will have to bite their tongue when they figure out where this whole car is going. The Jimny delivers excellent off-road performance with a classic off-road design. The entire body is attached to a rigid chassis with anti-torsion protection. The chassis is strong, heavily reinforced, and raised high enough off the ground that the car really only stops on extreme obstacles where a forestry machine would be required instead of an SUV. The front and rear axles are rigid helical spring axles.

The drive, which is mainly transmitted to the rear axle, can be connected by simple and precise movement of the lever in the cab. When the slopes are very steep and the diesel engine is low on power, a gearbox is available to allow the Jimny to climb very steep slopes. Since it is 190 mm above the ground and has no protruding plastic accessories on the bumper, it has a 38 ° ramp-in angle on a slope and a 41 ° exit (rear) angle. Thanks to its short wheelbase (2250 mm), it can also negotiate sharp edges (up to 28 °) without rubbing its belly against the floor.

The Jimny is a real toy on the field, and judging by our experience at the test site, where we test almost all SUVs, he has nothing to be ashamed of. It leaves behind many heavier and larger field animals in the mud or downhill. Figuratively speaking, hunting or forestry (frequent buyers of this SUV are hunters and foresters): if large SUVs are bears, that is, strong, but somewhat bulky, then Suzuki is a nimble and tiny chamois. However, it is known to climb in many places.

Such "games" are not the cheapest (and not as cheap as we would like), since they cost 4.290.000 4 XNUMX tolars according to the usual price list (at a special price a little less than XNUMX million). On the one hand, this is a lot, on the other hand, not again, as the car is really a well-built and thoroughbred SUV with all the expensive and reliable mechanics. But you may also be comforted by the fact that Jimnys, like used cars, keep the price well, so you will lose quite a lot of money on it.

Especially considering that the test consumed an average of 7 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers, a 1-liter turbodiesel is not even gluttonous. The car does not accelerate more than 5 km / h, which does not speak in favor of long trips. On the other hand, it offers ample off-road flexibility and durability. Jimny, of course, has more weight.

evaluation

  • Jimny is something special among SUVs. It's small, somewhat cramped, otherwise a terribly fun and useful car. We probably would not go on a very long trip with him, because now we are spoiled with the comfort of limousines, but we will definitely go on an adventurous discovery of the beauties of Slovenian and the surrounding uninhabited nature.

We praise and reproach
