Suzuki Marine - innovative and efficient

Suzuki is not only about cars and motorcycles. The marine department, which has been producing outboard engines since 1965, is a dynamic branch of the concern based in Hamamatsu. Suzuki Marine is proud to point out that the latest engines are among the lightest and most economical in their class.

Over the years, Suzuki Marine has won numerous awards for innovative technical solutions. In 1997, the company introduced the DF60/DF70, the lightest fuel-injected 4-stroke outboard in its class, which significantly reduced fuel consumption. The DF40/DF50 introduced next season featured a maintenance-free timing chain. In 2004, the first V6 from Suzuki Marine debuted. 250 hp engine differed by the most compact dimensions and the lightest weight in its class.

A big step towards improving the efficiency of engines was made in 2011. The debuting DF40A/DF50A engines received Lean Burn technology, which under certain conditions - with low power consumption - significantly depletes the fuel-air mixture. Of course, in a controlled way, so as not to lead to an excessive increase in temperature in the combustion chambers - the electronics determines in advance the amount of fuel necessary to maintain the correct operation of the engine.

As a result, the efficiency is 50% higher when trawling and at medium speeds. Optimizing the combustion process and reducing fuel consumption is not only beneficial to the boat owner's pocket. The environment will also benefit - exhaust gases will be discharged into the water. The DF2012AP engine debuted in the 300 with Selective Rotation, which makes it easy to change the direction of rotation of the propeller, which is important when the boat must be equipped with two or more engines.

New for this season are the DF2.5L, DF25A/DF30A and DF200A/DF200AP engines. The first of these is a 68cc four-stroke engine. see 14 kg engine designed for pontoons or small fishing boats. A maximum of 2,5 km is enough to move through the waters, if the wave is not too big. The engine is controlled by a tiller and has a manual starter. The cost of Suzuki Marine DF2.5L was PLN 3200.

DF25A/DF30A engines developing 25 and 30 hp respectively, are a proposal for the more demanding. 490 cc three-cylinder engines cm are the lightest in their class. Suzuki has also made an effort to become one of the most economical vehicles. Roller tappets reduce friction inside the engine, while Suzuki Lean Burn Control reduces fuel consumption.

Another unique feature of the DF25A/DF30A engines is the offset crankshaft, which improves piston smoothness and efficiency. To reduce the weight and complexity of the bike, Suzuki opted for battery-less control electronics and a manual starter with a decompression system that reduces the effort required to start the engine. Well thought out design pays off. The DF25A engines weigh 63 kg, which is 11% lighter than the competition. They also have low fuel consumption. The price of the DF25A engine starts from PLN 16, while the DF500A engine costs at least PLN 30.

The most powerful novelty of the 2015 season is the DF2,9A / DF200AP engines with a capacity of 200 liters and 200 hp. They offer the performance of a V6 engine, but are significantly lighter, more compact, and have lower purchase and operating costs. The Lean Burn system with knock sensors and the amount of oxygen optimizes the combustion process. In turn, the water sensor and the electronic key ensure the safety of the engine.

Another distinguishing feature is the two-stage gearbox. The solution allows to reduce the dimensions of the engine, optimize the point of its attachment to the transom, as well as increase the torque on the propeller, which allows to increase its size, which has a positive effect on performance. You need to prepare at least PLN 70 for the most powerful Suzuki Marine four-cylinder engine. For comparison, let's add that the V000 starts from a ceiling of 6 zł, and the flagship DF72A with 000 hp. costs PLN 300.

So much for theory. Practice looks just as good? When introducing new cars and motorcycles to the market, Suzuki speaks of lifestyle, emotion and fun. Although the engines offered by Suzuki Marine have nothing to do with those found in cars and two-wheelers, these words can be used to describe them. A boat or even a pontoon with the right engine can give you a lot of fun. And hellishly high power is not needed at all. Already DF30A, smaller boats of which can accelerate to 40-50 km / h, which is impressive on the water - larger waves rock the vessel solidly, and the crew constantly sweeps wind and water spray through the bow.

The experience of sailing on a 200 or 300 horsepower boat is much better. However, after a few hours on the water, there is a moment of reflection - are they really worth the money you should spend on them? We don't just mean the cost of buying the engine and the boat itself. Among the accessories offered by Suzuki Marine are on-board computers. Thanks to them, we learned that at about maximum speed, the three-cylinder DF25/DF30 engines consume about 10 l/h. The DF200 consumes several times more fuel without offering the same impressive boost in experience.

The Suzuki Marine offer is so rich that there is something for everyone. In addition to engines and the aforementioned powerboat accessories, Suzumar also offers pontoons and reefs. Orders are accepted and fulfilled by Suzuki Marine's authorized sales network, which is also responsible for service. The Polish representative office of the concern decided to stand in front of the client. The basic 3-year warranty protection period has been extended by an additional 24 months of internal warranty.
