Fresh air in the car

Fresh air in the car Most modern cars are equipped with air conditioning, which makes even a long journey comfortable, regardless of the time of year. Unfortunately, sometimes unpleasant odors spoil our good mood.

The main source of unpleasant odors in a car is often the air conditioner, because it is through this that they enter the Fresh air in the carauto all toxins outside. The air conditioning system in a car performs two tasks. Firstly, it supplies the interior with cool air, which helps to reduce the temperature in the cabin in hot weather. Secondly, it dries the air entering the car interior. Regardless of the type of air conditioner, let it always be on - regardless of the season, including autumn, spring and winter. When the air conditioner is on, dehumidified air enters the passenger compartment, which improves driving conditions in rainy weather and in high humidity. The effect of its operation is the absence of fogging of glasses. It happens, however, that an unpleasant smell is felt in the car. Its reasons can be very different. From a faulty or dirty air conditioner, through mechanical damage to the vehicle (e.g. leaky chassis, door seals), smoking in the cabin, to dirt resulting from leftover food, spilled liquids (e.g. milk) or “leftovers” in the cabin or trunk. after transporting pets.

In order to be able to effectively eliminate them from our car, we need to identify the source of bad odors. Let's start with the air conditioner. Remember that it requires periodic inspection and regular maintenance. The main service activities include checking the condition of the cabin filter (and its possible replacement), ensuring that condensate on the air conditioner evaporator is drained outside the car, and disinfecting the air paths into the passenger compartment. Fungus spores that enter the interior of a vehicle can penetrate upholstery, carpets, or seat upholstery and may pose a health risk to vehicle users (for example, cause allergies or respiratory problems). It is worth knowing that in addition to the fungus, bacteria can also live in the ventilation system, for which moisture and pieces of rotten leaves are an excellent environment.

Worst of all are the consequences of getting into the interior of the car a liquid with a strong odor, for example, milk, which quickly fermented. If we react quickly, cat litter will work well because it absorbs moisture and odors. If this does not help, several washes with strong detergents are carried out or a dirty upholstery element is replaced.

A separate problem concerns cars in which cigarettes were smoked. Removing the smell of tobacco is not easy, but not impossible. You should simply start by emptying and thoroughly washing the ashtray - the cigarette butts left in it can be much more intense than the tobacco smoke itself! If the vehicle has been exposed to smoke for too long, we will need to wet clean all upholstery, including the headlining.

Fresh air in the carHowever, if the A/C service fails, the interior has not been smoked, and there are no traces in the car that could be a source of bad smell, you should vacuum and clean the interior and wash the upholstery. This is the easiest way to restore freshness and pleasant smell to our car. We also recommend using car air fresheners, i.e. odors that purify the air in the car. Among other things, air fresheners are offered. from manufacturers such as Ambi Pur, which recently launched two new car fragrances specifically for men: Ambi Pur Car Amazon Rain and Ambi Pur Car Arctic Ice.

With the removal of unpleasant odors in the car, we can usually handle it ourselves. All you have to do is replace the pollen filter yourself or clean your car. On the other hand, cleaning the air conditioner must be entrusted to professionals - the fungus removal service is usually included in the cost of its inspection.

One of the latest solutions in the field of car interior cleaning from fungus and bacteria is the ultrasonic method. Cleaning here takes place with the help of a special device that produces ultrasound with a frequency of 1.7 MHz. They convert highly condensed disinfectant liquid into a mist with a droplet diameter of about 5 microns. The fog fills the entire interior of the car and enters the evaporator to remove contaminants.

How to use the air conditioner correctly?

– before driving in the summer, ventilate the vehicle interior so that the heated air in the closed passenger compartment can be replaced by cooler air from outside.

– to quickly cool the passenger compartment during the initial period of movement, set the system to work along the internal circuit, and after determining the temperature, it is necessary to restore the air supply from the outside,

– in order to avoid thermal shock in hot weather, do not set the temperature in the cabin below 7-9 degrees outside,

– during a long trip, ventilate the passenger compartment and drink plenty of water, preferably still mineral water, during each stop of the vehicle. The air conditioner dries the air, which leads to drying of the mucous membranes and related problems,

- the location of the branch pipes of the vehicle ventilation system must be installed in such a way as to minimize direct air flows on the bodies of passengers, while we will not feel drafts and “frosts”,

- do not dress too “warmly”, it is better to increase the temperature inside.

The smell of the news

Often new cars straight from the factory also have an unpleasant smell in the cabin. Then the cabin smells of plastic, leather and other chemical odors that are not pleasant to the driver and passengers. The way to get rid of such smells is to frequently air the car, wash the upholstery with special preparations and use air fresheners.

However, the cleaner we use must be non-toxic and anti-allergic. First of all, it must have an intense odor that will kill odors such as food leftovers, liquid spills, animal dirt or other unwanted odors in used cars.

You must find a reason

In order to be able to effectively eliminate unpleasant odors from a car, we need to identify their source. They can occur on seats, carpets, or elsewhere in the cabin. If, after washing the upholstery with detergent, the unpleasant odor still remains in the car, it means that it has not been completely removed. Then it is best to use a hood or vacuum cleaner. It is also worth looking into the nooks and crannies of the car, because there may be a reason for an unpleasant smell.
