Tata Motors finds batteries for its Indica Vista EV

As you know, this 2009 the entire automotive industry is talking only about electric vehicles. Indeed, given the rise in gasoline prices and global warming, it seems that the solution to all of this is an electric car. Of course, all-electric vehicles with zero emissions are ideal. But battery technology and the lack of fast charging stations mean that for now Hybrid cars most convenient to use.

To capitalize on this green car craze, the automaker Tata Motors announced at the beginning of the year that hybrid version sa fameuse indica Vista was going to release in the coming years. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, this hybrid vehicle offers diesel engine paired with electric motor... The engine of this vehicle will not exceed 80 horsepower. The idea is that the electric motor can be used at low revs.

The Vista EV will have the same chassis as the classic version, which is quite popular with motorists. This is one of the best-selling models of the manufacturer. Thus, the car will be a hatchback, which can accommodate a maximum of 5 people.

Regarding this new hybrid powertrain, Tata previously announced that the car will use an electric motor produced by the company. TM4, Subsidiary of Hydro-Québec and now the Indian manufacturer has just announced that it has just found a partner to manufacture lithium ion battery to be installed in Vista EV. The battery in question will be manufactured by a Californian company. Energy Innovation Group Ltd... According to the terms of this agreement, GCOS must supply TATA batteries by 2012. The first battery shipments are expected during 2010, in line with TATA Motors' schedule, which announced earlier this year that the vehicle will arrive at dealerships at the end of 2010.

At the moment, the hybrid market is fairly well represented by Ford Focus, Prius, CR-Z, etc. hybrids… The arrival of this new hybrid is a good thing, but since the car’s specs have yet to be revealed in detail, it’s not certain that the Vista EV is really can seriously compete with pioneers in this field, such as the Prius.
