Technical inspection of the car - price, mileage, consequences of being late

Unfortunately, you, as a potential user of the car, will not always know what the diagnostician can pay attention to when inspecting the car. Of course, a lot depends on the type of vehicle and its intended use. After all, cars that are used for personal purposes will be checked differently than large trucks that travel on international roads. In the same way, the technical inspection is carried out scrupulously when it comes to buses that carry passengers as part of public transport.

Vehicle overview - price and date

The cost of technical inspection of a passenger car is PLN 99, and for a car with a gas installation, you will pay PLN 162. As statistics show, we do not always remember when a vehicle inspection is scheduled. Fortunately, today almost all inspection stations send SMS messages or emails to consumers about the upcoming periodic inspection. By law, a vehicle inspection must be carried out once a year. Of course, this applies to already used cars.

In the case of a new car, the first inspection awaits you only after 3 years. The next one should be appointed in another 2 years. All subsequent events will take place every year. However, remember that if a gas installation is installed on the vehicle, regardless of whether it is new or used, a technical inspection must be carried out once a year.

Where is the inspection carried out?

Car inspection can be carried out at service points, such as inspection stations. Of course, they must have the appropriate permits, which will divide them into regional and main ones. If you intend to carry out an inspection at a basic inspection station, you can expect to check vehicles with a gross weight of up to 3,5 tons. As for other vehicles, including those registered for the first time, after an accident or after a technical change, or if a registration certificate is preserved vehicle, then you should use the district service station.

In the case of a regular standard technical inspection carried out on time, or if you have to pass a vehicle inspection later than the deadline, zoning will not apply. In other words, it does not matter which inspection point is assigned to the place of registration of the car. Thus, the technical inspection of the car can be carried out anywhere in our country, at any inspection point. This is very convenient when you accidentally turned out to be a forgetful driver, drove somewhere along the road and suddenly it turns out that the inspection period has already expired.

Car inspection - what does the diagnostician check?

Regardless of whether it is a late technical inspection of the vehicle or not, the inspection station employee always focuses on three main issues.

1. First your vehicle must be identified. You need to confirm that the VIN number matches the vehicle documents and that it is legible.

2. The second key issue is the control of accessories. This includes, for example, a hook mounted on a vehicle or an LPG installation.

3. At the very end, but this is also a very important part of the inspection, the technical condition of all key components responsible for safety while driving is checked.

It is worth remembering that it is not worth the risk of revisiting after the deadline. After all, the consequence can be a fine if you are even accidentally stopped by the police.

Vehicle inspection - safety first

Your vehicle will be inspected mainly in terms of safety and environmental standards. A detailed technical inspection of the car includes checking the external lighting, the operation of the wipers and washers, as well as tires. In addition, the brake system is checked by checking the braking force and uniformity. The diagnostics will also check the shock absorbers, chassis and bodywork for possible corrosion.

The diagnostic station will also check the tightness and completeness of the exhaust system and possible leaks of working fluids. The test also includes checking the level of exhaust emissions and smoke. Before you go for a technical inspection, remember about the mandatory equipment of the car, i.e. fire extinguisher and warning triangle.

Inspection of the car - the consequences of finding faults

If you don't take good care of your car, you can also find out very quickly that a late inspection isn't the only possible problem. If during the inspection any significant defects are found, in connection with which the diagnostician will not be able to stamp the data sheet, you will have to resolve some issues.

Remember that e you then have 14 days to correct any defects found. So as soon as possible, you need to contact some good mechanic to quickly fix what you need. However, this is not the end, because you will have to go to the inspection station again for a second inspection. Of course, this should be the same service center where defects have already been detected and eliminated.

If everything goes according to plan, the inspection will be completed with a positive result, and the date of the next inspection will be stamped in the registration document.

Unfortunately, you can also face another, worse scenario if the malfunctions were really serious. Well, when the diagnostician establishes that the car cannot be used in traffic, because it will endanger safety, he has the right to keep your registration certificate for the duration of the inspection. However, these are extreme situations, because the car must be in very poor condition.

Documents required during technical inspection

Remember that when going for a technical inspection of the car, you must have with you, in addition to the driver's license, also a registration document. If, on the other hand, your car has a gas installation, you will also need a gas bottle legalization document.
