We've entered 2020, so it's worth looking at prices for older hybrids (no power recharge) and plug-in hybrids. Conclusions? Toyota and Lexus dominate the older hybrid segment, but these brands are being eaten away by Hyundai and Kia. With plug-in models, it was extremely crowded, ranging from 150 to 230 thousand zlotys.

The values ​​below are taken from the official price lists and include the discounts indicated in the price lists.

As we mentioned in the beginning, the widest selection of hybrids with small batteries that cannot be charged from an outlet can be found at Toyota and Lexus showrooms. However, if we like cars suspended a little higher, we do it. good value for moneyand we don't like to howl engines under acceleration - it's worth taking a closer look at the offerings from Hyundai and Kia.

Kia Niro Hybrid vs. Toyota C-HR Hybrid and Hyundai Kona Hybrid

For example, the Kia Niro Hybrid is missing. the cheapest hybrid of the C-SUV segment... Toyota C-HR, which is trying to compete with it, is more expensive by about 8 zlotys even on sales.

For the Hyundai Kona Hybrid (B-SUV segment), the Japanese manufacturer did not foresee a competitor at all, although in fact it should be the Toyota C-HR and Lexus UX. However, on the Polish market, they are presented as cars belonging to the above segment, which is easy to check by looking at native media or Wikipedia.

Cheapest plug-in hybrids

If we are looking for a cheap plug-in hybrid, then Korean cars are unmatched here too: today we can buy the Kia Niro plug-in hybrid for 128 PLN. Probably this year's offer will also include the slightly cheaper Kia Ceed Plug-in. Other brands? You can start your search if you add at least PLN 900 to the above amount.

Piston in the range of 150-200 thousand zlotys

The most crowded place was from 150 200 to 150 150 zł. For less than 250, we can have a Mini Countryman and Skoda Superb iV plug-in, that is, the B-SUV or D segment, in which cars of the C-SUV and D segments are alternately present.

Among them, the big Volkswagen Passat GTE shines, scares off this year's Golf GTE a bit and arouses interest. Opel Grandland X with all-wheel drive... The latter is 33 PLN cheaper than the all-wheel drive variant presented a few months ago!

Interestingly, the cheapest plug-in hybrid in the D-SUV segment is the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense for PLN 227. If we compare the car with old hybrids, the price difference can hurt us – the cheapest Toyota RAV4 costs less than PLN 135.

Update 2020/01/03, 10.58: After much discussion and reflection, we have moved the Toyota C-HR and Lexus UX to the B-SUV (subcompact crossover) segment and the Toyota RAV4 to the C-SUV (compact crossover) segment. crossovers). The Polish media (Autocentre, Newspaper, Wikipedia) classifies these cars one segment higher, but we found this classification misleading due to their internal dimensions.

We've also added Toyota Prius + and Toyota Prius Plug-in, which were previously dropped from the list by mistake.
