Oil temperature. How long does it take to warm up the engine?
Sports car drivers often pay attention to the correct oil temperature. However, most cars do not have this indicator.
The temperature of the engine is indicated not so much by the coolant temperature gauge as by the oil temperature. In practice, when the fluid temperature reaches the desired 90°C, the oil temperature at this time may be around 50°C.
Although it is assumed that the optimum oil temperature is approximately 80-85 ⁰C, the sensor that measures this parameter is located in the coolest place, i.e. in the oil pan.
As soon as the liquid temperature reaches 90 ⁰C, the unit can be considered to be operating in its full capacity range.. Experts say that even if the oil does not reach the recommended 90 ⁰C, it will still protect the engine. Modern engines are well prepared for "cold" operation.

If the oil does not reach 85–100 ⁰C, the water does not evaporate, fuel and it loses its protective properties faster.
The drive needs at least a dozen or so minutes and a distance of about 10 km or a little more - depending on road conditions - to warm up to a temperature that will protect the oil from premature aging,
Carbon deposits from burning oil gradually spoil the cylinder head, that is, valves, guides and seals. If the engine is constantly exposed to low oil pressure, high oil temperature problems are typical, i.e. engine overheating, scoring of bearings, cylinder walls or clogging of piston rings. Too much oil in the engine can, in turn, damage the catalytic converter and lambda probe.
