Tesla Model 3 Long Range: Charges 20 Percent Faster With Software Update To 2019.20.2 • ELECTRIC CARS

An interesting list has appeared on the Reddit forum. With a recent software update, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD starts to run with more power and charges faster than before. All on the same Supercharger v2 with a capacity of up to 150 kW.

So far, the Tesla Model 3 has started charging at 60kW and hit 143kW at 13 percent, according to a list prepared by user Wugz. Now with the option to warm up the battery on the go, takeoff takes place with more than twice as much power - 125 kW. – the car develops 143 kW with 9 percent of the battery.

That's not all. Maximum power remains at 45 percent, the car then steps down to 118kW - until recently the Supercharger v2's maximum - at 50 percent charge and maintains that power at 59 percent. Starting from the 59 percent threshold, charging power drops linearly. In the diagram below, the entire process is represented by the yellow line. It's worth comparing to the graph made on the old firmware last year (blue line) when the Supercharger v2 didn't have 150kW unlocked yet.

The effect is such that on the updated Supercharger v2 Tesla Model 3 with the latest firmware 2019.20.2 loads in the range of 5-80 percent 20 percent less than before. And this despite the fact that the software 2019.20.2 does not contain annotations about the speed / power of charging.

So far, this is just one report that also exploits warming up the battery in transit. But if there are more such reports, Tesla will again try to reduce the time Model 3 owners spend on chargers. In other words: at the same travel speed, the travel time will be reduced.

Unfortunately, although all Polish blowers are already in the second version (v2), it has not yet been heard that their software has been updated to support 145/150 kW. Also note that The Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus will charge much slower due to its smaller battery. - which reader Michal pointed out in the comments.
