Tesla Model X restarted the computer during an evening drive on the highway. "Scary!"

On the Tesla Model X discussion forum, there was a message from a driver who suddenly restarted the car's computers while driving at 113 km / h or faster (from 70 mph). The car was driving fine, but for some time all counters and displays were turned off.

Tesla Computer Automatically Reboots - It Happens

As internet user JoyDi describes, put the car into semi-autonomous driving mode. Suddenly the screen and display went dark, extinguished as if the machine had stopped working. Then he moved at a speed of 70 miles per hour or more (from 113 km / h). The air conditioner switched to cooling mode, which increased his panic.

He turned on his turn signal - he didn't even know if it worked - and took the first possible exit to catch his breath. Then the computers came to life, as if nothing had happened.... Apparently their reboot is over (source).

One netizen said the situation was extremely "funny" when it happened at night. When the meters go out, it looks like the car has stopped. Others stressed that it's worth staying calm then, because all the key Tesla subsystems are working - the car continues to move normally - and only the multimedia unit, the MCU, reboots.

We have signals from our readers that similar situations may indeed occur, although they happen sporadically (single over the years). It is then difficult to stay calm, but you should keep driving as usual. The system with counters should rise within a few tens of seconds.

To prepare for this situation, you can try to force restart your computer while driving. This can be done by pressing and holding both rollers on the steering wheel (from 2:15 in the video below):
