Tesla recalls nearly 27,000 vehicles due to windshield failure

Since October, Tesla has released at least nine US recalls. In January, he even sent a software update to fix heating problems in his cars.

Tesla is recalling 26,681 vehicles from US roads due to a software bug that could cause problems with the windshield defroster.

This vehicle recall affects select 3-2021 Model 2022, Model S, Model X, and Model Y vehicles. Software is to blame, according to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Windshield defroster failure occurs due to incorrect software code, a valve in a car's heat pump may open when it shouldn't, and if it does, refrigerant will remain inside the evaporator. This failure may result in reduced de-icing performance and may be contrary to federal vehicle safety requirements.

Tesla has no reports related to this failure yet. However, the automaker will perform an over-the-air software update to fix the issue.

According to Tesla, customers will receive a warning message explaining that the performance of the vehicle's heating and ventilation system may be limited or unavailable, but the heater fan will still move air.

Tesla believes the problem is more likely to occur at low temperatures, when temperatures are below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

On Jan. 15, Tesla released a software update to address December customer complaints about reduced heating efficiency in extreme cold weather as a precautionary measure. Following discussions with NHTSA and Transport Canada, tests were conducted to evaluate the suitability of new vehicles delivered to the software.

The electric car maker has released a series of recalls in recent months, including some due to software issues. Back on January 15, as a precautionary measure, Tesla released a software update to address December customer complaints about reduced heating efficiency in extreme cold weather.
