Tesla raised the price of its autonomous driving system to $12,000

Tesla will now charge $12,000 for the full self-driving option starting in January. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the price will rise again in the future.

Tesla will again raise the price of its misleadingly named car. Elon Musk confirmed the news on his Twitter account last Friday. Starting January 17, the fully driverless option will cost $12,000-$2,000, which is $XNUMX more than the current price.

Autonomous driving technology does not exist

This isn't the first time Tesla has raised the price of its fully autonomous driving feature, which, we can't stress enough, is not fully autonomous driving technology. (There are currently no self-driving cars for sale.) In November 2020, the price of FSD increased from $8,000 to $10,000.

Musk also tweeted that the price of fully autonomous driving will rise again as the technology approaches production.

What do you get by purchasing Tesla Full Self Driving?

Right now, when you select the FSD option, you get Tesla's Autopilot Driver Assistance package, which includes automatic lane change, automatic parking, restricted road assistance, the Summon feature, and more. If you buy the FSD option, the car will get additional equipment that will allow full autonomous driving capabilities should they ever become legal for road use.

We found that the autopilot system was faltering in the long-term crossover, mostly due to a constant problem with ghost braking. Tesla has made a number of over-the-air updates to this technology over time and says it is constantly tweaking and improving these driver assistance features.

Tesla does not have a public relations department and therefore cannot comment on Musk's tweet.
