The official presentation of the fourth generation Skoda Octavia took place in Prague on November 11, 2019. The first copy of the novelty of the Czech car industry rolled off the assembly line at the end of the same month. Throughout the production of all generations of the model, liftbacks and station wagons were popular among motorists. Therefore, the fourth Octavia received both body options at once.
In this model, almost everything has changed: dimensions, exterior and interior. The manufacturer has expanded the range of motors and a list of basic and additional options. In the review, we will consider what specifically the changes affected.
Auto design
They built a car on the updated MQB modular base, which they began to use starting with the Volkswagen Golf 8. This design allows the manufacturer to quickly change the technical characteristics of the car without the need to upgrade the conveyor. Therefore, the fourth line of Octavia will receive a wide variety of layouts.

Despite the use of modular assembly, the manufacturer managed to create an individual car, not similar to competitors' models.
The original headlights of the third-generation car did not cause positive emotions among motorists. Therefore, the manufacturer refused to use a baffle between the lenses. Visually, it seems that the optics are designed in the style familiar to previous generations. But in fact, the lights are solid. They got L-shaped running lights that visually divide the lenses into two parts.
Top-end equipment will receive matrix headlights made using innovative technology. It is used in many modern cars. The security system includes several settings for dipped and main beam. Optics is also equipped with a function for adjusting the light beam when an oncoming car appears.
In general, the car is made in the usual Octavia design. Therefore, on the road it will always be possible to recognize it not only by the icon on the radiator grid. Under the main air intake is an original bumper with an additional mesh insert. The taillights and the boot lid have become more modern.
How does a car go?
Due to the wide variety of suspension options, the buyer can choose the modification that is ideal for their preferences. In total, the manufacturer offers 4 options:
- standard MacPherson;
- sports with lowered clearance (127 mm.);
- adaptive with reduced ground clearance (135 mm.);
- for bad roads - clearance increased to 156 mm.
During the test drive, the new car showed good momentum. A clear reaction of the power unit is felt on the accelerator pedal. Such a return is provided by turbocharging both in gasoline and diesel versions.
Combined with a turbo engine and DSG, the car looks more like a flagship sports car than an ordinary model. You can ride it calmly. Or you can try to leave behind Toyota Corolla or Hyundai Elantra. The new Octavia retains confidence in any driving style. Therefore, the driver will enjoy driving.
Specifications
The manufacturer pleased motorists with a wide variety of powertrains. By the way, their lineup was added with some unique options. For example, one of them is a gasoline and compressed gas engine.
Two hybrid versions are added to the turbocharged diesel and gasoline power units. The first is a plug-in, rechargeable, with the possibility of autonomous operation of the electric motor. The second is the Mild Hybrid, which provides a smooth start using the Start-Stop system.

Salon
The interior of the Czech news reminds Volkswagen Golf 8th generation. Versions with a DSG automatic transmission also lack the familiar gear lever. Instead, there is a small drive mode switch.
The quality of the interior immediately indicates the desire of the company to bring the car to the premium class. The console no longer has the usual mechanical switches. The 8,25-inch sensor is now responsible for all the settings. In the top configuration, it will be ten-inch.
All plastic elements are made of higher quality material compared to the third generation models.
The front seats received a sports uniform. They are equipped with heating, massage and memory for the last three positions. The interior is made of fabric, and in the top version - of leather.
Fuel consumption
To save budget on refueling the car, pay attention to the hybrid version. The Mild Hybrid series helps the engine accelerate to the right speed. Thanks to this system, almost 10 percent fuel economy is achieved.
