Test: Hyundai ix35 1.6 GDi 2WD Style

Roof ix35 refers to price list entry models. So the one that everyone kind of skips over and flirts with the slightly more expensive one, saying it's definitely bad if it's first on the list.

But let's say in the first sentence that this is clearly complete nonsense when proposing versions of the ix35. Already the basic model (after motorization, not complete set) turned out surprisingly well. But in order. If we decipher the name of the car, we can see that it is a gasoline powered motorized SUV with front wheel drive.

label GDI reports that this is a direct injection engine. Of course, huge accelerations should not be expected, but due to the six-speed transmission, the lack of torque can be compensated for by choosing the right gear. So with a few more switches and launches, you can easily track traffic. Even a consumption of just under nine liters is not terrible. Especially for the difference of 2.500 euros with the first diesel in the price list, you will get a good ride.

Even front-wheel drive, in our opinion, is more suitable for a car of this design. The ride is less cumbersome, and it also feels lighter and more maneuverable. Of course, it all depends on what kind of off-road the owner of such a car intends to turn off on.

If you do not have exactly the weekend for nine mountains and nine bodies of water, it will be the same ix35 came to many. We only lacked a slightly better connection between the steering wheel and the wheels, as the power steering was tuned quite strongly and the ease of steering was known at higher speeds because the car was quite dancing at the time.

A lot of equipment will certainly contribute to the well-being in such a machine. Two-zone automatic air conditioner, heated front and rear seats, camera for reversing, smart key etc. this is not to be expected from the car presented in the original proposal. True, there are versions with poorer equipment, but the entry-level Life model already offers, say, connectivity Bluetooth, connectors AUX in USB, anxiety …

The interior is quite pleasant, the standard black color is beautifully broken by the silver plastic inserts. This is a little annoying on the steering wheel as the hinges are too rough. The seats are focused on comfort and slightly less folding between corners, as the seats don't have much lateral support. There will be no comments from the back bench either, the passengers' knees "breathe" pleasantly.

There is an interesting comment about the charge of the car or the crew: everyone who got out of the car after a ride was shocked by the static. But maybe all of us in the editorial office need to change our shoes ...

evaluation

  • Hyundai could certainly afford an even worse version for the entry-level ix35. Which only confirms that the car is of high quality and corresponds to the market.
