Test Short: Dacia Sandero dCi 90 Stepway

I know what you are going to say: then you are young and stupid. It is not true. Already young, but not at all stupid, I would have said earlier unencumbered... Then those memories bring up the most beautiful moments of your life, and you think, damn it, it doesn't take long to be happy.

The source of this happiness is undoubtedly modesty and unpretentiousness. The Dacia Sandero reminded me of the days when all that mattered to us was that the car had four tires (the replacement was already prestigious) and at least a crude engine and transmission.

That is, in general, we could come to parties, where we met the same person for several years in a row at educational evenings and brunches. Of course, going back and forth was already a feat, preferably six or seven people in one car, which the gentlemen in blue did not always like.

The Sandero Stepway is undoubtedly a beautiful car, although it is worth looking at with the open eyes of a student. It has everything basicthey say ABS, two airbags (passenger as an accessory), air conditioning, radio tape recorder, even aluminum disks were attached to it. It is more critical, however, to immediately notice that it does not have an on-board computer, that you can only guess about the outside temperature, that the radio does not have a steering wheel or buttons on the steering wheel for safer operation, and that it is stable. ESP godly desire. This is a potentially dangerous car according to the Autoshop criteria, so you will probably deduct a lot of points from the ratings.

But is it a bad car - as the main means of transportation? No, it's still much more convenient than taking a bus or train. It sits relatively well, the quality is at an enviable level, the engine up to 130 km / h quietly mutters its turbodiesel melody. If you have a leg, it will pamper you low fuel consumption (damn we have only 4,8 liters per 100 km) and undemanding use, which can also be attributed to soft five-speed transmission... The mere absence of sixth gear (or a slightly longer "longer" fifth) would save passengers from the noise that gets annoying on the highway. At that time, the 1,5-liter turbodiesel was already spinning at 3.200 rpm, which was too much for a comfortable highway ride. There is enough space on the back of the bench, as well as on the trunk, even on the mountings. Isofix they are more affordable than many of the more prestigious vehicles.

So where does the lower retail price come from? At first, you only notice durable materials, which are not always the most pleasant or comfortable (plastic gear lever), or some piece of sheet metal that is covered with a soft coating in other cars. Then, in the end, you notice that the tachometer is the same as the petrol counterpart (scale to 7.000 rpm, and our test Sandero struggled to go up to 5.000, where it was only loud), that no outdoor temperature display (very welcome in winter, mostly for safety reasons) and that you have to turn on the wipers when your windshield gets wet, which happens automatically with other cars. Well, Romanians should make them cheap.

So what is lacking in a humble student life? Nothing, because then you don't know anyone. What is Sunder Stepway missing? Nothing until you get into a better car. If you ignore some of the security flaws, it actually nothing is missing.
