Test Kratek: Fiat 500C 0.9 TwinAir Turbo Lounge

Fiat 500C 0.9 TwinAIR Turbo Lounge is the result of a modern combination of car manufacturers. They have various bodies, chassis, equipment and engines on (virtual) shelves. However, at the request of buyers, they can combine these items to get different models. It is, of course, the 500C with its new two-cylinder engine, which was even honored with the 2011 engine of the year by a special jury of automotive journalists.

Economical two-cylinder?

We have already tested this engine twice in our magazine: in a similar Fiat 500 and in the new I threw up Upsilon... Testers experience? They differ most in terms of average fuel consumption. The differences can probably be attributed to different ways of using the car (read: the weight of the pressure on the accelerator pedal). Vinko has already explained how he reacts to a routine test. Fiat 500 (AM 21-2011) that in the first part the movement is rather strongly resisted, and therefore more decisive pressure is needed on it.

At the beginning of the test, I also decided to try an additional engine operation program with a nameplate Eco... In his opinion, this is similar to castration, as it never allows the full power of the engine to be used.

I admit it got on my nerves a little, because the whole time I felt that I could be a little faster (but the car was never an obstacle on the road!). The rest of the traffic in the cities could be maintained at all times, and there were no problems on the highways up to a total limit of 130 km / h.

The result of this experiment is only slightly lower average consumption. This is actually proof that this two-cylinder engine, which does not hide its design at all throughout its operation, can be reduced to a lower average, but normal normal consumption is still very difficult to achieve.

This is the rest 500C A perfectly satisfactory and acceptable vehicle, especially for those who like direct contact with the fresh air, although for this reason they have to rent a smaller luggage compartment.

evaluation

  • Even though the 500C has been on our roads for quite some time, it still grabs attention. With a turbocharged two-cylinder engine, it promises lower fuel consumption as promised by the manufacturer than can actually be achieved.

We praise and reproach

another interesting view

satisfactory road position

small but powerful enough engine

seat flexibility and driving position

smaller trunk opening due to soft roof

large deviation of the real average consumption from the standard data
