Kratek test: Peugeot 508 SW 2.0 HDi (120 kW) Allure

When it comes to "horses", price and consumption, I always prepare for red light questions, and this uncle surprised me. I mumbled something, then the greens led me towards the Bavarians. It got me wondering to what extent modern cars are satisfying buyers' desires by making people wonder about these kinds of things.

Even though my uncle has obviously already outlined his 508 SW, we still have to answer him honestly. Sir, the plastic on the dashboard is enough soft and high quality combined... At Peugeot, we are used to tectonic joints between plastics, but at five hundred and eight years, the workmanship at a much higher level.

But what if someone puts too much emphasis on design, fit, and aesthetics and forgets that you, sir, probably have a wallet, phone, keys, and more. If you don't want it all jumbled up in the door drawer, these things are next to the driver's seat. you have nowhere to put it.

If you're not exactly a vampire, you'll love this. bright and spacious interior. Much of the credit for that feeling is the huge glass roof that is typical of Peugeot station wagons. Unfortunately, we cannot speak of a richer one with liters in the trunk, but its flexibility can be praised. Folding the rear seat down is a force to be reckoned with, as the lever that lowers the backrest is also located in the trunk. The test specimen had a built-in electrical displacement the tailgate, which is basically a great thing. Too bad the door moves at glacier speed, which you will curse, dear sir, if you wait with your bags in the rain until the back door is lifted.

All in all, the 508 SW is a car tuned for comfort and lightness in management. He fulfills this mission very well. Understandably, the very softly tuned suspension also helps, and the decent ride is credited to the excellent engine/transmission combination. As a standalone technology, none of them stand out in any way, and overall they provide a good package that will handle a well loaded car well and can keep speeds within our limits. Although the gearbox offers possibility of manual switchingthose ears next to the steering wheel in such a car are completely redundant.

So, dear gentleman from the traffic light: I was ready to ask about the price. I would tell you that some of the accessories seem really superfluous to me because of the car they justly raise the price. By itself, the Allure package satisfies many desires for comfort. I was ready to ask about expenses. Yes, the automatic transmission increases consumption a little, but the diesel engine moves the car easily and therefore there is no engine chase that would increase consumption. But if you asked me if I'm happy, I would agree. However, I still think Peugeot leaves some wiggle room given that the 508 is the top of the range.
