Test Short: Peugeot Partner Tepee 1.6 HDi 4 × 4 Dangel Outdoor

Of course, nothing will happen on its own, but the starting point or tool for reaching the goal is correct. This is Peugeot's partner, the representative of useful family cars, which, on the other hand, are actually vans, but have been beautifully converted into a passenger car for personal use.

This is how such a Partner was created. Compared to the previous generation, it has grown considerably on the outside, so modified with the help of Dangel and at the same time heavily raised to all-wheel drive, it is much higher than some Cherokee of the previous generation, which was quite good. serious SUV. But about Dangel on Partner in a special box.

This partner is also Tepee Outdoor (and with quite a lot of accessories), which makes its interior special, interesting and useful. There are four longitudinal panels on the ceiling, including an airplane-type ceiling with three vents, a fan speed control knob (so extra ventilation!), A scent for PSA, three lamps, a relatively low shelf and two ceiling grids ... on the sides. where small bottles can also be stored. The ceiling is also occupied in the trunk, since there is a large box. It can be lowered from the rear of the vehicle for easier loading and is also accessible from the front through a smaller door. And it holds up to 10 pounds! In short, a pretty useful thing.

The spare wheel, which Partners usually store under the rear end, has also moved into the trunk, but since there is now a differential for four-wheel drive, it had to be taken somewhere. Now, of course, the trunk is now shrinking, but this one is actually huge, so this is not even the main obstacle. There is also a portable (rechargeable) light, one small box and a 12 volt socket. All this really leads to picnics in nature somewhere at the end of a bad road, where there is no one ...

The story of the boxes is not over yet, there are really a lot of them. One (the big one) is between the seats, but it has the disadvantage that the stiffening ribs inside are quite sharp (poor build), which is not very nice. The box above or in front of the gauges is so deep that the attached driver does not reach its bottom, there is also a large shelf above the heads and only the classic box in front of the navigator is somehow small. It’s a pity that the steering wheel is plastic (although not rough), the audio system is average, and the can places are shallow. The divisibility (and even automation) of the air conditioner can be waived at the expense of a navigation device, but it is true that the surcharge for air conditioning is 200 euros, and for navigation - 950 euros. Well, leather on the steering wheel costs only 60 euros.

The exterior dimensions also provide for a spacious cabin with five individual seats, which together is ideal for large, above-average young families. A turbodiesel is also enough. It heats up quickly, up to 1.800 rpm is kind of lazy (as if the turbocharger is too big for it), and from there it is very jerky at city speeds. Its 80 kilowatts of weight and the car's aerodynamics add, on the one hand, a good feature - a driver with it on our highways is unlikely to accidentally grossly violate speed limits. The engine is travel-friendly but relatively modest: in fifth gear at 100 kilometers per hour, it consumes 5,8, 130 9,2 and 150 11,4 liters per 100 kilometers, which well reflects the influence of the aerodynamics of a large body.

The worst part of the drive is still the gearbox, there hasn't been much progress in the lever movements for a long time, and only five gears are even more worrying. The engine spins at 130 km / h in fifth gear at 3.000 rpm, so a longer gear (fuel consumption and noise) would be welcome, while, on the other hand, first gear is too long for small off-road transitions. Otherwise, the mechanics are generally very good, only through short shock pits such a Partner is uncomfortable (it softens well for a long time) and during the test the brakes shook a little more when braking.

And we are below the line again. A partner like Dangel - also because of the higher price - will probably not have much success in sales in our country, but since it is special in this respect and as such also very useful, it will certainly greatly improve life is a typical buyer. The choice is small.

Dangel 4 × 4

It will not be difficult to notice this, because it is six centimeters higher, which means that it is 20 or 21,5 centimeters lower than the front or rear axle. Real field activities! The plant is the work of a well-known company and has been completely reconstructed here. It weighs 85 pounds, which is 30 percent less than before. Dangel upgrades already assembled partners by adding viscous clutch and drive shafts to the rear wheels, and switching between drive modes is also possible while the vehicle is in motion. A skid plate has been added under the engine, and the springs and stabilizer are a bit stiffer. The drive select button is located in one of the round boxes on the dashboard and also allows you to use only front-wheel drive - to reduce fuel consumption. Another option is 4WD Auto, which automatically adjusts torque between the axles.

Dangel offers partners three four-wheel drive packages at prices ranging from 7.200 to 8.400 euros. The test car had a mid-range Performance package with mechanical partial differential locks, but lacked full lock, gearbox and rear axle protection. Regardless of the processing, such a Partner also has a classic factory warranty.

Choosing a drivetrain with at least a partial locking diff in the rear is extremely smart as it makes the driveline really useful even on the tougher surfaces and goes to the point where they again become the weak link when overcoming obstacles – the tires!

evaluation

  • Essentially one of the best vehicles for young families with more than one child, its Tepee Outdoor equipment is perfect for a pleasant ride on the road, and Dangel makes sure any mud, snow or slightly larger hump in the family takes its toll. do not stop in nature on the way. A very interesting combination.
