Тест Kratek: Renault Megane Sedan dCi 110 EDC Dynamique

Under the code 6DCT250 (where DCT is the dual clutch transmission and 250 is the maximum torque that the transmission transmits) you will find the dual clutch dry clutch transmission. This one was also found in the Renault catalog and ordered for installation in Megane. They gave it the designation EDC, which stands for Efficient Dual Clutch, and attached it to Megana models with a 110 horsepower diesel engine. We tested it in the classic five-door version.

6DCT series gearboxes are available in wet and dry clutch versions. Wet models handle higher torques (450 and 470 Nm respectively) and are used by Ford. What's the difference between wet and dry dual clutch transmissions? You will notice this most easily when you release the brake. If it is a wet clutch version, the car will immediately crawl forward. If the clutch is dry, it will stay in place and you will need to lightly depress the accelerator pedal to drive.

Dual clutch transmissions can be a bit awkward when maneuvering at low speeds. Imagine that you are parking sideways on a slope and slowly leaning towards the car behind you. Sometimes things can squeak a little, and sometimes you need to use both feet - one on the brake pedal and the other on the accelerator pedal.

The Megane performed well, the control electronics dosed the throttle very gently and precisely, and the EDC was less impressive while driving. Sometimes he jerks (especially when changing gears under load, for example, uphill), sometimes he cannot decide which gear to use. Sportiness cannot be attributed to it, but for everyday use, however, it is quite suitable. For urban crowds, a premium automatic transmission is also better than a manual transmission.

You can take care of manual gear shifting by sliding the (too large and not very eye-pleasing) gear lever to the side and then back and forth, as this Megane doesn't know the steering wheel levers for this purpose. After all, this is not necessary. Leave it at D and let it work on its own.

Otherwise, Megan's test is as you would expect from Megan. Comfortable seats, enough space for lengths (I would have liked a little more steering depth), good ergonomics and good seats thanks to Dynamique equipment. There is not enough space behind (which is typical for cars of this class), but it is enough for everyday family use. It's the same with the trunk, and with the characteristics of the car as a whole, including consumption.

It is a pity that this gearbox cannot be desired even with a more powerful diesel engine under the hood (and even with a gasoline engine) and it is a pity that the price difference (compared to a classic manual gearbox) is much more than a thousandth. ... Here at Renault, they threw themselves into the darkness.

evaluation

  • Megane with a diesel engine in the nose is the right choice when choosing a family car in this class. Also, the EDC is a good gearbox, but we still wish the combination of car, engine and gearbox was better.
