Test: Peugeot 3008 HDi 160 Allure

Every crossover between car classes is something special, so it's hard to speculate on looks and beauty. At the very least, it will definitely impress you from the inside. It's nice to see that the people at Peugeot have spent a lot of time designing and customizing the interior of the 3008.

The driving position is excellent, and everything that contributes to good ergonomics is planned. The center tunnel is raised to keep the shift lever and some of the switches close at hand. In a more relaxed driving mode, the right hand rests pleasantly on the seat back - a real royal driving position.

The interior is made in the style of one-room apartments. There are as many drawers and shelves as in Grandma's pantry. We are used to the fact that our wallet hardly fits in the middle, and it is so big that we can put a piece in it that Ryanair will still consider as luggage. Luxury in the front and back isn't much different from travel. It has a lot of width and height, air conditioning slots add comfort for inclement weather, and huge glass surfaces.

The 432-liter luggage compartment merges with an average car of a similar rank. A special feature is that the tailgate opens in two parts. Some people like this decision, others find it superfluous. You don't need to open the shelf if you put large items in the car, but if you want to tie your shoes, you will happily sit on the shelf.

The XNUMX-litre diesel combined with the six-speed automatic transmission fully meets the requirements for this type of vehicle. All you need is quiet operation and quick response when needed. Just during the tests, we also had a hybrid version with a robotic gearbox on trial. After a brief exchange with a journalist colleague, I wanted to get my “me” back as soon as possible. The restlessness of the robotic gearbox compared to the smoothness of the automatic was already getting on my nerves a little. On the other hand, the consumption of the hybrid is again not so obviously lower.

To summarize: "Three thousand and eight" is a great car for a family. It has a lot of family ties to minivans, drives like a nice and comfortable sedan, and looks like the sport utility vehicle that is a hit these days.
