Perhaps this difference still persists, although the differences in the shape of the crossover, which in both cars begins to differ only behind the B-pillar, are more blurred than before. The Peugeot 3008, which was already created as a crossover, still has a distinctly sporty off-road character, and despite the new crossover design, the Peugeot 5008 can recognize much more remnants of the single-seater character.

Compared to the Peugeot 3008, it is almost 20 centimeters longer and the wheelbase is 165 millimeters longer, so the Peugeot 5008 definitely looks much larger and has a more powerful appearance on the road. This is certainly aided by a lengthened rear end with a flatter roof and steep rear doors that also hide a larger trunk.

With a base volume of 780 liters, not only is it 260 liters larger than the boot of the Peugeot 3008 and can be expanded to a solid 1.862 liters with a flat boot floor, but additional seats are hidden under the floor as well. The seats, which are available at an additional cost, do not provide the comfort that passengers can use on long journeys, but this is not their intention, since in this case we still need space in the trunk for luggage. However, they are very useful for short distances, since then passengers on a retractable bench of the second type of seats can also give up some comfort, and such a compromise is quite acceptable over shorter distances.

Folding the spare seats is fairly straightforward, as is taking them out of the car if you might need the extra 78 liters in their niches. The seats are fairly lightweight, can be easily moved around the garage, and can be removed with just one lever and pulled out of the beds. Insertion is also easy and quick as you simply align the front seat with the bracket in the car and lower the seat into place. The trunk can also be opened by pointing under the rear with your foot, but unfortunately the operation is not without a whim, so you often give up early and open it with a hook.

With this, however, the obvious differences between the Peugeot 5008 and 3008 have virtually disappeared as they are completely identical at the front. This means that the driver also drives the Peugeot 5008 in the fully digital i-Cockpit environment, which, unlike some other Peugeot models, is already available as standard. The steering wheel is of course in line with Peugeot's modern design, small and rather angular in shape, and the driver looks at the digital gauges, where he can select one of the settings: "classic gauges", navigation, vehicle data. , basic data and much more, as a lot of information can be displayed on the screen. Despite the wide choice and abundance of data, the graphics are designed so as not to burden the driver's attention, who can easily focus on driving and what is happening in front of the car.

You may still have to get used to the new location of the sensors above the steering wheel, which not everyone succeeds, but if you put together the right combination of seat position and height of the steering wheel, it will be comfortable and transparent, and turning the steering wheel seems a little easier, as if it were put higher.

Thus, the screen in front of the driver is very transparent and intuitive, and that would be difficult to say about the central display in the dashboard and touch controls, which in many cases, although the transition between sets of functions is carried out using the "music keys". under the screen, requires too much attention from the driver. Perhaps, in this case, the designers still went too far, but Peugeot does not stand out in anything, like other cars with a similar layout. There is definitely a lot that can be done with the more intuitive switches on the steering wheel.

The driver and front passenger have plenty of room and comfort in the seats - with the ability to massage - and there's nothing worse in the back seat, where the increased wheelbase mostly translates into more knee room. The overall feeling of spaciousness is also slightly better than in the Peugeot 3008, as the flat roof also puts less "pressure" on passengers' heads. There are plenty of storage spaces in the cabin as well, but many of them could be a bit larger or more accessible. The limited sizes are also due to the fact that designers have abandoned many aspects of practicality in favor of bright forms. Whether you like the interior design or not, it's a pleasant experience, and the Focal sound system also contributes to well-being.

The test Peugeot 5008 received the GT abbreviation at the end of the name, which meant that, as a sports version, it was equipped with the most powerful two-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine developing 180 horsepower and working in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission. transmission with two gears: normal and sports. Thanks to him, one could say that the machine has a dual nature. In 'normal' mode, it operates rather discreetly, pampering the driver with a light steering wheel and passengers with pleasantly soft suspension, even if at the expense of ride quality. When you press the "sport" button next to the gearbox, its character changes significantly, as the engine shows its 180 "horsepower" much more significantly, gear changes are faster, the steering wheel becomes more direct, and the chassis becomes firmer and allows for more sovereign passing turns. If it's still not enough for you, you can also use the gear levers next to the steering wheel.

Despite the solid performance, the fuel consumption is quite favorable, since the test Peugeot used only 5,3 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers in the mild conditions of a standard circle, and in everyday use the consumption did not exceed 7,3 liters per 100 kilometers.

A few more words about the price. For such a motorized and equipped Peugeot 5008, which basically costs 37.588 44.008 euros, and as a test model with a lot of additional equipment 5008 1.2 euros, it is difficult to say that it is cheap, although it does not differ from the average. Either way, you can buy the Peugeot 22.798 in the basic version with the excellent 5008 PureTech turbocharged petrol engine for much less than 830 euros. The ride may be a little more moderate, there will be less equipment, but even such a Peugeot will be equally practical, especially if you add a third row of seats, which will cost you an additional 5008 euros. You can also get a significant discount on your Peugeot purchase, but unfortunately only if you choose to fund Peugeot. The same goes for the Peugeot Benefits Program's five-year warranty. Whether it suits him or not is ultimately up to the buyer.
