Grille test: Peugeot 308 GT 2.0 BlueHDi 180 EAT8

The lion in the sign this time also delivers what it promises, but above all, it reminds us that this brand is steeped in a rich racing tradition. From rally racing, to circuit racing, from Le Mans to Dakar and races like Pikes Peak, these are just highlights of the sporting tradition. The Peugeot 308 GT differs from the usual tristoosmica both externally and internally. That this is a slightly more premium car is shown by sporty details, 18-inch alloy wheels and headlights, which, combined with a bright blue color, give the impression that this is not an ordinary car.

The GT's equipment is fully revealed in the cabin, where the upholstery is rich in leather and Alcantara and red stitching adds its own. The steering wheel is unusual for a first-time passenger in a Peugeot, as it is usually not round, but rather cut off at the bottom and wants to be sporty. To some extent this is true, but in the hands it seems a little (too) small. The switches or control buttons on the steering wheel are simple but effective. Well, the manual transmission of a good eight-speed automatic transmission with levers on the steering wheel is slightly less efficient. It is best to leave it in automatic mode, because then it works better with both a smooth and relaxing ride and a dynamic ride.

If you are one of those looking for sporty luxuries, we suggest that you consider another model of the house; If you want to spice up your life a little with sporty sound and safe entertainment on winding roads, the 308 GT does the job well enough. When you press the "magic" sports button, its character changes and (unfortunately only) the speakers emit an attractive sporty roar of the engine. While not a road car, it has enough dynamism to release some adrenaline into your veins as you drive it more aggressively around corners, while the chassis follows the commands and, above all, keeps the wheels in contact with the asphalt.

He can do all this without compromising the comfort of the passenger compartment, and the whole family will be able to ride in it without any problems. We can say that everyone - both the driver and passengers - arrive at their destination with a smile. It's really a car that has a bit of sportiness in it, but in the end it still impresses with moderate consumption. The diesel engine with 180 horsepower and plenty of torque, providing the flexibility of the engine, consumes five to six liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the weight of the foot and the duration of the engine in the sport program.
