If you buy a Renault Clio, you can of course also buy it for 11k. But there are many who want a relatively small yet well-equipped and motorized vehicle, such as the Renault Clio Intens Energy dCi 110 test car.

These usually reach the engine from the top half, not from the top of the engine ladder, but rather the equipment. And those people are more likely to like the test Clio.

In fact, there were only a few things that bothered us: such a car would deserve an automatic transmission. Unfortunately, this engine is (a bit confusing) not available with an automatic transmission. If you really want to, you'll have to opt for the weaker, 90bhp dCi, but it's true that it's financially equivalent to the price of a more powerful manual transmission diesel. So the choice, though not the best. If you are far out of town and if a cheerful mood means more to you than comfort, this dCi 110 is a great choice; If you are in the city most of the time, the dCi 90 combined with a dual-clutch automatic transmission is your best bet.

The 110 horsepower diesel is lively enough, yet quiet enough. The six-speed manual transmission handles it well, shift lever movements aren't very precise (but they're accurate enough), but they make up for it with smooth response without excessive drag. Even in corners, this Clio is friendly: the slope is not too much, and the driving dynamics are one of the best in its class.

It's the same with the interior, especially since it's the highest level of equipment in the Clio. That's why it also has a Bose navigation and audio system, which of course combines the R-Link infotainment system we usually complain about - but it's good enough for this class of car. So, with a Clio like this, if you're looking for a car from the start, you won't miss out.

evaluation

  • Such a Clio impresses with its comfort and equipment and will appeal to those who value these factors more than meters and kilograms.
