ThirtyOne31: Made in France electric bike on display in New York

E-bikes from France's SME ThirtyOne31 will be in the spotlight at Best of France, which will bring together around 150 exhibitors on September 26 and 27 in New York to promote French know-how.

Founded in 2013 and based in the Pyrenees-Huts region, ThirtyOne31, a registered trademark of Smooz SAS, offers an electric bike completely hand-assembled at its plant in Valentine, in Haute-Garonne.

The ThirtyOne31 electric bike, dubbed the Debut e-Matic, is built on a 6061 aluminum frame with a front rack mounted discreetly with a 280 Wh lithium battery, allowing items to be transported thanks to a bamboo pallet.

Equipped with a 250 W S-RAM e-Matic and a 55 Nm electric motor mounted in the rear wheel, the Debut e-Matic offers assistance up to 25 km / and has an autonomy of 40 to 80 km depending on the type of route.

As for the bike, the bike has a two-stage automatic derailleur to make it as easy to use as possible. Originality: Using a 28 "rear wheel and a 26" front wheel. A system that, according to the manufacturer, provides "optimal pedaling performance" while maintaining "excellent handling."

Self-service at attractions

While ThirtyOne31 struck the first self-service electric bike agreement in Vannes, the SME is looking to continue capturing this segment by offering a viable electric alternative to Vélib.

And to better respond to future requests, ThirtyOne31 intends to rapidly expand its capacity. The company produced about 2014 electric bicycles in 200, and plans to produce from 250 to 2016 this year and will double in the XNUMX year.

“We provided room for capacity expansion,” Baeza explains. “Now we make three bikes every two hours, we can make up to 30,” he says.
