Facial tonic: don't skip it in your routine!

Daily facial skin care differs depending on its type and problematic nature. However, there are three main steps that should not be skipped, and toning is one of them. Which face toner should you choose for your skin type? What care steps should be followed? We answer!

All stages of facial care - what to remember?

Facial skin care consists of several steps: three main steps, i.e. those that must be done every day (both morning and evening), and two additional steps that are performed much less frequently. Below we provide all the steps of facial care with markings that should be remembered daily:

  1. Cleansing - the main stage

It is necessary both in the morning and in the evening. After all, this step is obvious to everyone who wears makeup. What to do if there is no morning makeup and morning cleansing? This is also necessary due to the fact that impurities such as mites or dust “taken from the pillow” or naturally secreted sebum and sweat linger on the skin. Among other things, they lead to the appearance of eczema or an allergic reaction. And the individual stages of facial cleansing consist of:

  • the use of micellar liquid (which, like a magnet, extracts impurities from subsequent layers of the skin),
  • washing with water (to cleanse the face of released impurities),
  • with cleansing gel
  • and washed again with water.

Each product should of course be applied with clean hands (or a cotton pad) and adapted to the skin type.

  1. Exfoliation is an extra step

A step to be done 1-2 times a week. More frequent removal of dead cells can cause skin irritation. This stage is recommended primarily for oily and combination skin. Dry and sensitive (allergic) skin can be too delicate and treatments such as particle peels or enzyme peels can irritate the skin, weakening the protective barrier. However, there are also exfoliating products for more delicate skin types on the market that are designed for them, and this is the only one you should choose.

  1. Nutrition is an extra step

So the use of masks, serums or various kinds of elixirs. Depending on the indications of the manufacturer of a particular cosmetic product, this stage is also performed 1-2 times a week. And again, of course, do not forget to choose it for your skin type; anti-wrinkle masks, firming serums, regenerating elixirs, etc. are available.

  1. Toning - the main stage

A very important step that must be performed not only every day, but also after each face wash. So whether you're doing a full cleanse or gargling with gel just to refresh yourself during the day, don't forget to tone your face. Why? Tonics restore the natural pH of the skin, disturbed by detergents. At this stage, you should stop using cosmetic pads and rub the tonic with your fingers, because tampons absorb most of it, increasing consumption.

  1. Moisturizing is the main step

The last step and the third main. He uses creams (day or night, eye creams, etc.) to ensure proper skin hydration. And its appropriate level is of particular importance from the point of view of a healthy appearance of the skin, because water supports the processes of its regeneration.

What tonic to choose for problem skin?

This type of skin, which may surprise many people, needs to be moisturized. An overproduction of sebum means that the body is trying to moisturize it on its own. Therefore, special attention should be paid to choosing an alcohol-free tonic, since with alcohol it can dry out the skin excessively (thus provoking it to develop more pimples). You should focus on moisturizing products that additionally contain antibacterial and antifungal ingredients, such as tea tree oil. These include Eveline #Clean Your Skin, a purifying and mattifying toner, or Ziaja Jeju, a toner for young acne-prone and oily skin.

What is the tonic for rosacea?

Capillary skin requires the use of delicate cosmetics that will not further irritate it, but instead strengthen fragile capillaries and relieve redness. Therefore, a tonic for couperose skin will primarily have a calming effect; Here again, you should choose non-alcoholic products. Herbal hydrosols work well, such as Bioleev, a rose centifolia hydrosol with a soothing and moisturizing effect. It is also a special Floslek Capillaries pro tonic with horse chestnut extract, which soothes and regenerates skin damage (discoloration, broken capillaries, bruises).

Which tonic is best for oily and combination skin?

These two skin types require exceptional refreshment, regulation of natural sebum secretion and control of the development of imperfections that can result from overproduction of sebum. It is worth choosing products with salicylic, glycolic or mandelic acid (they exfoliate, regenerate and regulate sebum secretion) and tea tree oil (has antibacterial properties). Popular products include Tołpa and Mixa's Dermo Face Sebio 3-Enzyme Micro-Exfoliating Toner for Oily to Combination Skin, a purifying toner for imperfections.

Tonic for sensitive skin - what should it be?

No alcohol is the first answer to the question. Alcohol has a strong antiseptic effect, but dries out the skin, which in the case of sensitive skin can be associated with cracking and excessive flaking. A toner for sensitive skin should soothe the skin and allow it to be applied gently, such as by hand or spray, to avoid skin irritation from rubbing. Noteworthy are the normalizing matting tonic Tołpa Dermo Face Sebio and Nacomi, rose hydrolate in mist.
