Top sports cars sold in 2019
The Ford Mustang was Australia's best-selling sports car for the fourth year in a row in 2019.
Let's face it, when the sports car bubble bursts, it bursts hard, really hard. You only have to look back to 2019 for the latest example of this fact: Australian sales fell 20.8%.
Indeed, the entire sports car segment relies on new releases to keep it going every year, and there haven't been many to keep it buoyant in a tough 2019.
The new generation Toyota Supra and Porsche 911 were the more visible debutants, while a series of minor model year updates were revealed behind them.
However, 14,712 new sports cars were sold in Down Under last year, which is still a lot of metal. And one particular model accounted for a whopping 26.8% of the sales of the entire segment. No prizes for guessing who it was (read: Ford Mustang).
Either way, read on for a segment-by-segment breakdown of Australia's most popular new sports cars in 2019.
