How does G17 work?
Additive g17 is officially recommended for use in Skoda cars with gasoline engines. That is, it can only be poured into gasoline. Unlike many other additives, g17 promises a complex effect. Below is a list of useful actions that, according to the manufacturer, the additive in question has.
- Increasing the octane number. Definitely one of the most useful effects. Despite the relatively stable quality of fuel at gas stations in Russia today, some gas stations still periodically sell low-octane gasoline with a high content of sulfur and lead. Such fuel burns poorly in cylinders, often detonates and leaves carbon deposits. With an increase in the octane number, the fuel begins to detonate less often, combustion proceeds measuredly. This reduces shock loads on the parts of the cylinder-piston group and increases the efficiency of the motor. That is, fuel consumption is reduced and engine power is increased even on low-quality gasoline.
- Cleaning the fuel system. There are sections in the fuel line (for example, at the junctions of the fuel line or in places of a sharp change in the diameter of the line), where various undesirable deposits that are present in bad gasoline gradually accumulate. The additive promotes their decomposition and accurate removal from the system.
- Cleaning pistons, rings and valves from carbon deposits. Carbon deposits on the parts of the CPG and timing reduce the intensity of heat removal, increase the risk of detonation and, in general, negatively affect the engine life. The additive, when used regularly, helps to avoid the formation of excessive deposits on pistons, rings and valves.
- Absorption of moisture and its removal in a bound form along with the fuel. This effect prevents the water tank from freezing and reduces the possibility of fuel system failure in the winter.
The g17 fuel additive, originally intended for Skoda cars, is also used in other vehicles of the VAG concern. It was developed specifically for regions with an increased risk of refueling with low-quality fuel, including Russia.
How to fill in the G17 additive?
Official recommendations for the use of the additive provide for its filling at each MOT. For gasoline engines of modern cars, the interservice mileage is 15 thousand km.
But the masters, even at official service stations, say that it will not be a mistake to fill in this composition 2-3 times more often. That is before every oil change.
One bottle of the additive is poured into a full tank of fuel in such a way that this tank is completely rolled out just in time for the next oil change. This is done because the additive, removing contaminants and binding water, partially penetrates into the oil through the rings together with the fuel. And this will not add positive properties to the new oil, which will have to be driven another 15 thousand. Therefore, it is better to use the additive before changing the oil.
Reviews car owners
The vast majority of motorists on the forums, including about 90% of Skoda car owners, speak neutrally or positively about the g17 additive. The fact is that the additive in question has a balanced composition. And it cannot potentially harm the fuel system, when used in acceptable proportions.
There are several negative reviews. When, allegedly, after using the additive, the nozzle failed or the motor began to work poorly. But today there is no conclusive evidence that a change in the behavior of a car or the failure of any element is directly related to the additive.
Of the positive reviews, the following are often found:
- softer motor operation;
- clean spark plugs and injectors;
- easy start in winter;
- subjective increase in engine power.
Additive g17 is available in two versions: gentle and aggressive. The difference lies only in the concentration of active substances. The price of the additive ranges from 400 to 700 rubles per 1 bottle.
