Brake fluid

Brake fluid Brake fluid is an important component of the braking system, especially in vehicles with ABS, ASR or ESP systems.

We regularly change brake pads, and sometimes discs, forgetting about the brake fluid. It is also an important part of the braking system, especially in vehicles equipped with ABS, ASR or ESP systems.

Brake fluid is a hygroscopic fluid that absorbs water from the air. This is a natural process that cannot be avoided. About 3% of the water content in the fluid causes the brakes to become ineffective and the components of the brake system to corrode. When replacing pads, you should even ask a mechanic to check the concentration of water in the brake fluid. Rarely does it with Brake fluid own initiative. The fluid should be changed every 2 years or after a run of 20-40 thousand kilometers. The quality of the fluid is evidenced by its viscosity, resistance to high temperatures and lubricating properties.

In vehicles equipped with ABS, ASR or ESP systems, it is very important to use good brake fluid. Poor quality fluid can damage the ABS or ESP actuators. A good fluid has a low viscosity index over a wide temperature range, which improves brake performance. There are also fewer scratches under the brake pedal during ABS operation.

A liter of brake fluid costs about 50 PLN. The price of good brake fluids is not so high that you can consciously decide on the worst.
