Brake pads Nissan X-Trail T31

Nissan X Trail brake pads need to be changed from time to time. On average, brand pads withstand about 20 km, that is, half of the equator. With a difficult driving mode and in extreme conditions, including in the climate of central Russia, it is better than 000 km.

Since the Nissan X-Trail T31 is an all-wheel drive vehicle, there are front and rear pads that need attention. Replacing the rear pads is usually more difficult. It is better to take branded pads for the front Nissan X-Trail T31, code D1060JD00J, the cost is quite comparable with analogues. The rear code is D4060JA00J. From analogues, you can take Textar or DELPHI. Replacing pads in a car repair shop will cost 3-4 thousand. Independent replacement will take, depending on skills, up to a full day. In the frame where the brake pads are attached, there is a special viewing window through which you can measure the wear level of the pads. This is a note. You can always independently assess the wear of the pads and replace them in a timely manner. Comparables wear faster Relatively soft pads help improve braking and machine control by increasing wear. If frequent emergency braking is required, brake pad wear is naturally higher. In any case, the Nissan Xtrail is a bulky car and an instant stop is not possible.

What Nissan car owners complain about most often

  • Nissan X-Trail branded brake pads wear unevenly.

    In a number of advanced cases, you have to hit the brake pads with a mallet because of a thick layer of rust.

    But this is a question rather for the car owners themselves, who bring it to such a state. If you take care of the car annually, then there will be no uneven wear, as a result of this layer of rust there will simply be no.

  • Branded rear pads do not fit and need to be flipped. If the front brake pads usually rise without problems, then replacing the brake pads on all-wheel drive becomes quite epic. There are two options here. Either the pads are not marked at all, or it's time to do a complete suspension prevention. Something has changed, something has worn out, something has rusted, and all this should return to normal. Clean, disassemble, measure, replace, align. The choice before the owner of the X Trail is very small: to master the profession of an auto mechanic or find an intelligent service with a decent team.
  • When buying, pay attention to the label. Nissan X-Trail T31 brake pads must be marked accordingly. Installing X-Trail T30 pads on 31 models will be problematic. The pads on the T30 are larger and won't fit on the T31.

What can you do yourself?

Bleed the brakes, fill or change the brake fluid. Do not overfill, the pumping process is best done together: one pumps, the second monitors the liquid level and fills as it pumps. This is a standard procedure, takes about half an hour and perfectly replaces a visit to the gym. When adding brake fluid, be sure to wear gloves: the fluid is quite aggressive for human skin.

Replacing Nissan X-Trail T31 brake pads is a messy, annoying, physically demanding and extremely responsible job. Therefore, we recommend leaving preventive work at the mercy of auto mechanics. They will professionally and quickly replace the brake pads.

    It cannot be changed on one wheel!

  8. The brake fluid is suitable for topping up/replacing.

Cleaning and measuring Nissan X-Trail brake discs (optional)

This is how brake disc runout is measured (non-Nissan)

We clean the assembly from dirt and particles of old brake pads. Since we have approached the disks, it does not hurt to measure the wear. At least the thickness. Use an accurate instrument: thickness is measured with a caliper, end runout is measured with a dial gauge.

  • The thickness of the new front brake discs is 28 mm;
  • The maximum allowable wear of the front disc is 26 mm;
  • The maximum final runout is 0,04 mm.
  • The thickness of the new rear brake discs is 16 mm;
  • The maximum allowable wear of the front disc is 14 mm;
  • The maximum final runout is 0,07 mm.

If you are not measuring runout on the mount, be aware that dirt or rust can cause incorrect readings.
