Toyota C-HR Hybrid - city diamond

Literally and figuratively... C-HR is the apple of Toyota's eye. Why? This shows that you don't need a loud exhaust and eight cylinders to impress when cruising around town. This new hybrid offering draws attention as it slowly floats through the streets in near-total silence. How is this possible, you ask?

It makes you jealous on the outside

Just a little imagination, and spotting the diamond body styling of the new Toyota (as announced) isn't that hard. It's bold and dynamic. The front apron doesn't reveal much upside down yet - only the very flat xenon headlights, combined with a dynamic line with the brand's logo in the center, attract attention.

But when you look at the C-HR from behind, there's definitely more going on. The Lexus RX evokes a natural association - the strongly sloping trunk lid, sharply defined headlights and upturned, aggressive and high bumper - the real guarantee of the attractiveness of this design, probably for many years to come.

However, there is probably nothing more pleasant than admiring this car in profile. Only this angle allows you to see the dynamically drawn roofline and massive, exceptionally wide C-pillars, which give the entire body a compact appearance. Unfortunately, at a loss for space in the interior.

Inside it doesn't scare

Driving a Toyota C-HR, however, tells us nothing about limited space for travelers. Of course, the most comfortable situation for a couple: the driver and front passenger. Of course, we have a back seat at our disposal, but those who get into the second row will have to first find the outside door handle, located in an unusual place - more or less at face level, and then fight to see anything outside the cabin. window. The aforementioned massive C-pillars and heavily sculpted window frames effectively limit rear passenger visibility. But the sofa is very comfortable, and there is enough space for two people of average height.

Let's go back to the lucky one who's driving. The cabin will definitely appeal to drivers who are not fans of hundreds of multi-colored buttons that require a thick manual. Futuristic, but at the same time pleasant, functional and even a little homely. Buttons on the door control the windows and mirrors, a small steering wheel lets us control the audio system, the display between the clock and the adaptive cruise control.

On the center console, we can't help but notice the powerful touchscreen display, which also has buttons on both sides. Their effective operation without accidental clicks takes a long time to get used to, but the reward is the excellent readability of the information displayed on the screen. The desire to pull yourself together - there are no physical buttons that you can feel under your fingers without taking your eyes off the road. However, the navigation system deserves special praise here. It's legible - and that's the key parameter for this feature. Under the screen, we see small air vents and an air conditioning control panel - thankfully with only physical buttons. The classic shifter, controlled by a continuously variable CVT transmission in the center tunnel, is complemented by two cup holders and an armrest that covers a deep storage compartment. Nearby, you'll also find parking brake control, emergency brake assist mode, and EV mode (only works with the electric motor).

It makes no sense to look for regular and symmetrical shapes throughout the cabin - the designers took the use of a diamond-shaped motif very seriously. We can find it in the plastic upholstery of the doors, the shape of the buttons and even in the embossing on the headlining.

And behind the wheel is a complete idyll

This is how the Toyota C-HR Hybrid handles. This car does not require anything from the driver, except for the presence. It does not tire and, what is most interesting, despite the aggressive styling, does not induce unnecessary madness. It can be said that a perfectly soundproofed cabin, comfortable power steering and silent suspension with soft tuning can even soften the driver's sporty drive. Yes - a 1.8 petrol engine, which, in combination with an electric drive, gives us 122 hp, which allows us to comfortably overtake and even show potential rivals the rear bumper at a traffic light, but this is where Toyota's sporting capabilities end with C-HR. Besides, you don't feel the need at all. Acceleration above 120 km / h in the city means that the average fuel consumption very quickly reaches the mark of 10 liters, and the monotonous sound of the engine (continuously variable transmission) begins to be heard clearly in the cabin and can be annoying after a while.

However, in the city, C-HR encourages you to cover more kilometers. Achieving a combustion volume of less than 4 liters is not a major problem. Regardless of the driver, the city is the natural habitat for the new Toyota. That's where it looks good, maneuvers well, protects the rider from any bumps, and saves big on refueling. This car fits perfectly into the stereotypical automotive needs of both women and men - no one will look bad or out of place in it.

All of this makes the new Toyota C-HR hybrid perfect for city driving—cheap, comfortable, and with a hundred envious looks along the way.
