The sporty character of the new Toyota GR86 is emphasized by the coupe exterior with its bold features. The car, with its expressive style, refers to the tradition of Toyota sports cars and uses aerodynamic elements taken from motorsport. The dimensions are similar to its predecessor - the GR86 is 10 mm lower and has a 5 mm wider wheelbase, which has a positive effect on driving emotions. The car has a very low center of gravity, which in the cabin led to an underestimation of the driver's thigh point by 5 mm. There is room for four passengers in the cabin and a luggage compartment capacity of 226 liters. The rear seat back can be folded down and the luggage compartment can be enlarged to accommodate four wheels, ideal for people riding the GR86 to keep track of the day's events. .

Compared to its predecessor, as much as 50 percent. the rigidity of the body has been increased, the structure has been strengthened and the suspension has been improved. Independent MacPherson struts are used at the front, and a double wishbone suspension at the rear. The chassis has been tuned for even faster response and greater steering stability. The car's handling is also affected by the low weight achieved through the use of lightweight materials.
