Pre-sales of the new Toyota GR86, which will replace the GT86, began and ended on Monday, February 21st. A limited edition of 50 sports coupes destined for the Polish market was ordered in 35 seconds.

Another 18% of buyers chose the same version, but with an automatic transmission. The remaining 4% are cars with manual transmission and the basic Dynamic package. The first copies of the new GR86 will arrive in dealerships in mid-2022. The car will be produced for the European market for two years in a limited edition.

The new Toyota GR86 is the third global vehicle in the GR lineup. The car joined two other sports models of the brand - GR Supra and GR Yaris. The new model continues the best traditions of its predecessor - it retains the classic front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive engine layout, as well as a naturally aspirated boxer engine. At the same time, the GR86 is lighter, stronger and more dynamic, and in every way better and more perfect.

The new GR86 is a four-seat coupe that follows the heritage of Toyota's 60s sports cars and draws on the brand's experience in international rallying and racing. The car is slightly lower and wider than its predecessor, has a very low center of gravity and the driver is 5mm lower. Its structure has been strengthened and body rigidity has increased by 50 percent. The new suspension features independent MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear. Despite the larger dimensions, the car is about 86 kg lighter than the GT20 thanks to the use of aluminum in the roof, front fenders and hood, as well as redesigned front seats, exhaust system and driveshaft. These decisions made the GR86 the lightest car in its class.
The naturally aspirated 2,4-liter boxer engine produces 234 hp. and a torque of 250 Nm. GR86 with a six-speed manual transmission accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6,3 seconds (6,9 seconds with automatic). The maximum speed is 226 km/h (216 km/h with automatic transmission). Standard features include a rear Torsen limited slip mechanism and a drive mode switch.
The GR86 starts at PLN 169 for the manual transmission version and from PLN 900 for a car equipped with a six-speed automatic.
