Toyota Camry was once a very popular model in Poland. Large, comfortable, solid, reliable. Many still relate with feeling to the third generation. Will the meeting be as positive in years to come?

How many years can one car be produced? Volvo has been selling the XC90 for 12 years. Toyota kept the third generation Avensis on the market for 9 years. And so she wishes him good night, and Camry takes his place.

Although the Avensis was once present at every turn, such a worn-out design eventually gave up. However, a successor was not chosen - instead he was reinstated. Camry.

Only the multimedia system spoils the impression. The designers were finally able to somehow modify it, use more modern colors, change the look of the cards. Now - at least externally - it's like a few years ago, and in the case of such systems, this is a gap.

Also, there is no function of communication with phones, without which many people no longer imagine driving a car. CarPlay and Android Auto, however, are expected to arrive in the next updates, so my words (hopefully!) will quickly become obsolete.

Toyota Camry It's a limousine that doesn't come close to the size of a Lexus LS yet, but already offers plenty of room both front and rear. Rear passengers can adjust the angle of the seatback even with the electric drive!

The security equipment is already extensive in the basic version. At no additional cost, we get a sign recognition system to help keep the track in one lane, and active cruise control. 2-zone air conditioning is also standard, and 3-zone air conditioning is also available as an option. In richer versions Toyota Camry, headed by the Executive, we also get navigation, leather upholstery, heated seats and full LED lighting. There is also a blind spot monitoring system and an exit assistant from a parking space. It's just a modern, safe car.

What comfort!

And it's also convenient. It's a car that absorbs kilometers and that's how we feel in it on short and long trips. Suspense Toyota Camry it's been tuned for comfort, it's easy to feel.

However, let's not forget that this is a hybrid, and in addition it is well muted, so there is also acoustic comfort. Yes, not any, because the floor and almost the entire roof are additionally soundproofed, and aerodynamics have been taken care of to reduce noise generation. Also e-CVT got a new program that allows Camry move up to 50% of the time exclusively on the electric motor and rarely turns the engine to unreasonably high speeds.

New generation of hybrids Toyota answers many of the objections of his predecessors. AT Camry we have a 2,5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine under the hood, which, together with the electric motor, produces 218 hp. and 320 Nm of torque.

We will reach 100 km / h in 8,1 seconds, and the maximum speed, which is not typical for hybrids, is as much as 210 km / h. But these numbers don't mean much, since the engine is ready to push the car forward at any moment with almost zero delay.

Maybe it still consumes a little more fuel, especially if we drive more dynamically - on the highway you could see results in the region of 7-8 l / 100 km, but in the city this figure will drop to about 6 l / 100 km. The suspension, specially designed for this model, also copes well with dynamic driving. Camry rides confidently. However, as already mentioned, we tested this model mainly in heavy rain conditions. And in such conditions, when driving a hybrid, this instantaneous moment must be taken into account when accelerating sharply. A sudden increase in torque is also a sudden cause of front axle skid. So you have to learn how to ride smoothly, and hybrids do it quite naturally.

It's no secret that Toyota Camry she traveled the United States, Japan and Australia for two years before she came to Poland. It also looks like an American limousine, so we initially had some concerns about the precision of the steering, especially the steering. Overkill - the steering wheel is quite straight and does not deviate from the standards of competitors.

Buying a Toyota Camry? You might have a problem

New Toyota Camry maintains positive associations with the latter Camrywhich were sold in Poland. It looks good, it is very comfortable, well finished and equipped, and as a hybrid it will also be reliable. Who, how who, but Toyota has been doing this for 20 years.

And that price—compared to what the Camry offers—makes a very good impression here. So good that of the 20 units allocated to Poland this year, they were sold before anyone could drive the car.
