Toyota offers the RAV4 in three trim levels: Basic, Limited and Executive. The latter is intended for those who expect that the car will pamper them and, of course, will have a beautiful appearance. And in appearance, it is similar to the striking Land Cruiser that underwent an update a year ago.

Both the headlights and taillights have the same design (rounded and slightly convex lines). In addition, there is a new front bumper with integrated fog lights and a rear tire cover, with a complete resemblance to the "Cruiser" only there is no mask with chrome struts in the fresh air slot. But that would be too much! However, the RAV4 must remain the link between passenger cars and SUVs. In terms of its image, it does not stand out in any direction. Which is good, of course, because it brings everyone together in a well-designed multi-purpose vehicle.

Even the interior immediately seems elegant, executed from the outside. The black leather seats, steering wheel, gear lever and door trim are harmoniously combined with the all-new dashboard and center console. Visibility above the indicators is good, and the buttons, switches, and drawers are logical, so close to your fingertips.

Passengers quickly become accustomed to the comforts of the RAV4. Flawlessly functioning automatic air conditioning, sliding power windows with buttons, a multifunctional steering wheel that not only looks good, but also feels good in the hands (adjustable in height), auto-dimming rear view mirror and last but not least, seat heating (oh , as you like it on a cold winter morning) is just the most important part of the luxury that the interior of the RAV4 Executive offers. But we could still improve a little. Leather upholstery, for example, is slippery, so why not use Alcantara? Or maybe install slightly sportier seats that would better cling to the body during more active cornering?

Another resentment, however, concerns spaciousness. While the RAV4 isn't a small car (this one with five doors already looks rather bulky), it could have had more legroom, especially in the rear seats. It adjusts slightly to your wishes with longitudinal movement, the back bench is in two equal parts, so you can only move half of the bench if you want. The boot's quick flexibility is also commendable if you're looking to increase it from the base 400 liters to 500 liters (longitudinally moving the bench forward is enough). If your trunk needs are even greater, a quick and easy solution is to remove the rear row of seats, after which the volume increases to a whopping 970 liters. To simplify: in such a rack you will place two mountain bikes diagonally!

Safe on the road

The Toyota RAV4 with permanent all-wheel drive will not be surprised by changing road conditions. Grip on all four tires is also controlled by a 50/50 torque split center differential, which means that even on the ground, Toyota's smallest SUV travels quite far. The entry angle is 31 °, the transition angle is 23 ° and the exit angle is 31 °. But the car is not designed for overuse off-road use, as evidenced by its secure position on the road, which is very similar to that of limousines. The only difference is that in this Toyota it is located much higher, which otherwise causes some body tilt in corners, but on the other hand, provides incredibly better visibility.

According to the new, the new RAV's handling is also better thanks to an improved front chassis with the addition of electronic stability control (VSC) and traction control (TRC). In practice, this means that the moment you overdo it in a corner, the electronics itself will slow down the pace of your ride. All RAV4s (including the richest Executive equipment) are equipped with an ABS braking system and electronic brake force distribution, which contributes to a good stopping distance and a good brake pedal feel. In our measurements, we aimed for a braking distance of 41 meters from 100 km / h to full stop for a test RAV. Safety is also provided by four airbags, and passengers are protected by two air curtains.

Nice car, only. ...

Toyota has taken care of everything, the car rides well in good and bad weather, good or bad grip, safe and reliable. At the same time, the modern D-4D does not overdo it with consumption; in the test, he "drank" 8 liters of diesel fuel per 1 kilometer of the way. The only thing we really don't like about the RAV100 4 D-3.0D Executive is its price. Over eight million and a few pennies is quite expensive. The base Land Cruiser, which looks really good and isn't too sparsely equipped, costs 4 million tolars. In the place of the buyer of such a RAV, one might probably wonder which one is more worth buying.
