Toyota RAV4 D4D

Toyota Rav4 D4D has many different faces. It is an interesting mixture, like tea from "tavzhntrozh", which cures any disease. A little on the highway, a little on errands, a little in the field, a little on a trip to nature, a little alone, a little with the family. We don't want to appear skinny, but this car performs surprisingly well everywhere.

Toyota RAV4 D4D

Toyota has already added the powerful D4D diesel engine to the already successful RAV4 and wrapped it up in an interesting package along with all-wheel drive. The engine is by far the biggest novelty. The turbo diesel has enough power to make the ride lively and not exhausting off-road. Consumption in the test ranged between 8, 3 and 9 liters per hundred kilometers, which is still somewhat acceptable, but we would definitely like maybe a liter and a half less for a modern diesel.

The soft lines of the five-door body are pleasing and recognizable, while the wide bonnet for ventilation adds a bit of sportiness. If we have ever complained about the lack of space in the short version, then there is no problem with a comfortable seat, since there is a lot of space. The seats are great and the back bench also allows for many different adjustments.

The Rav4 follows driver's directions very well on paved roads where such vehicles are mostly driven, despite its taller body and off-road origins. There are no unpleasant swaying and body rolls in the corners, the driving experience is very similar to those in good cars of the lower middle class.

We were very impressed with the permanent all-wheel drive, which provides good traction on all four wheels. The car benefits a lot from this, especially safety, as only deliberate overspeeding while cornering in bends will result in a (simply controlled) rear end slip. Even things as annoying as sand on the asphalt or areas of slippery asphalt are no surprise. The driver is also greatly assisted by the diesel engine providing high torque and wheel slip control.

However, you need to be a little more careful on the pitch. As long as the base is hardened and not too steep, no problem. However, in mud and rough terrain, concentration and good thinking are required. Even with a diesel engine, the Rav4 remains just a passenger car with a higher ground clearance and four-wheel drive. While on a trip that you need a gearbox, only extremists drive real SUVs.

For those looking for a little adventure and discovering remote or abandoned roads that are plentiful in Slovenia, the Rav4 will not turn its back. And it is here that he most of all manifests itself in his versatility. It can serve as a valve for rest and escape to nature or for a family car with a lot of space, you can also visit a meeting of SUV lovers with it, but they will not look sideways at you, and in winter for this money you will definitely have one safer one. a car.

evaluation

  • The Toyota Rav4 D4D could be a family car, a second car for those with a thicker wallet, and it also caters to the casual adventurer who loves to ride unkempt trails in nature to relax. The high torque gives it satisfying off-road ability even though it doesn't have a differential lock or gearbox. A very versatile vehicle with a good diesel engine.
