Toyota Tundra in detail about fuel consumption

As a rule, the best pickup trucks are made by the Americans, but Toyota decided to challenge this claim by releasing the Tundra. This model was twice recognized as the best among analogues in 2000 and 2008. However, when buying it, it should be borne in mind that the fuel consumption of Toyota Tundra per 100 km will be 15l +, depending on the cycle. But, fuel costs are fully justified, because this SUV overcomes any obstacles.

Briefly about the model

The first models of the Toyota Tundra series were demonstrated in Detroit in 1999, already hinting that this pickup truck would compete with such a US firm as Dodge.

5.7 Dual VVT-i 13 l / 100 kmXnumx l / xnumx km15.6 l / 100 km

Initially, the buyer was offered models with a V6 engine and a volume of 3.4 or 4.7 and a power that ranged from 190 to 245. Gasoline consumption for the Toyota Tundra in the combined cycle on the mechanics is 15.7 liters of fuel. Considering such expenses, a fuel tank with a capacity of one hundred liters was provided.

The SUV has collected a lot of positive reviews and the consumer liked it so muchthat since 2004 the model range has been completely updated. At the same time, manufacturers abandoned 3.4 hp, focusing on 4.7 and 5.7 hp. in volume.

More about TX model range Tundra

As mentioned above, the first models of 2000 are significantly different from those that are currently being produced. However, they are all on sale, and in order to know what the real fuel consumption of Toyota Tundra is, we will consider these cars from the very beginning of their release.

2000-2004

The first cars had a V6 engine and were equipped with:

  • 4 hp, 190 power, 2/4 doors, manual/automatic;
  • 7 hp, 240/245 power, 2/4 doors/mechanics/automatic.

Having such technical characteristics of the Toyota Tundra, fuel consumption per 100 km averages 15 liters. 13 liters were announced in the extra-urban cycle, but for fans of fast driving, the consumption was 1.5-2 liters more.

2004-2006

Given the success of previous models, Toyota decided to further develop its pickup truck. Demand showed that the 3.4 models are not relevant, so the emphasis in the updated series was on power and volume. The six-cylinder engine remained, but its performance was increased to 282 hp, and the volume to 4.7. The fuel consumption characteristics of the Toyota Tundra have not changed much. If speak about extra-urban cycle, then spending is 13 liters per hundred kilometers. 15 - in mixed. And up to 17 liters - in the city.Toyota Tundra in detail about fuel consumption

2006-2009

The model range of these years includes more than twenty variants of the Tundra. A 4.0 car was still available. However, the real novelty was the V8 engine, which is installed on the 4.7 and 5.7 models. Such innovations have affected the Toyota Tundra's fuel consumption per 100 km.

Despite the fact that the costs of technical documentation have not changed since 2000, the real consumption in the urban cycle reaches 18 liters.

This figure applies to owners of new cars with a volume of 5.7 and a power of 381, who like a sharp start and high speed. The old 4.0 on the mechanics in the urban cycle have a consumption of 15 liters.

2009-2013

The following cars were available in this series:

  • 0/236 power;
  • 6, 310 power;
  • 7, 381 power.

These models do not differ significantly from the previous ones. There are no visible changes in fuel consumption either. According to the owners, the real consumption of gasoline for Toyota Tundra in the city reaches 18.5 liters for 5.7, and 16.3 for 4.0. In the combined cycle, it ranges from 15 to 17 liters. The norms of fuel consumption on the highway are considered up to 14 liters.

2013-NV.

There were no significant changes, except for one. Since 2013, all cars have a five- or six-speed automatic gearbox. But, as in the previous row, volumes of 4.0, 4.6 and 5.7 are available for the buyer. If we talk about consumption, then on the machine it is naturally higher than on the mechanics. Therefore, the technical documentation indicated such figures per 100 km (arithmetic mean for the model range):

  • urban cycle - up to 18.1;
  • suburban - up to 13.1;
  • mixed - up to 15.1.
