pipe for car

Shiny, thick and expensive. I'm talking about the so-called off-road pipelines. The purchase and installation of such a design on the front of the car is an expense of up to 2,5 thousand. zloty.

However, there are many who want to.

In recent years, SUVs, or rather SUVs, have made a real career, i.e. cars with the appearance of SUVs, but accustomed to driving on paved roads. They are usually bought only for prestige, because not only are they not suitable for driving on real terrain, but also few of their owners ever leave the pavement at all. However, off-road enthusiasts often choose to install custom tailpipes to further emphasize the "off-road" nature of their vehicle.

The offer here is very rich - from original products designed for specific cars to products of local craftsmen. Owners of Toyota SUVs: Land Cruisers or RAV 4 can install nozzles at authorized service stations. Installing such a design in the front of the car costs, depending on the model, from PLN 2 to 2,2 thousand. The products of Polish companies are definitely cheaper. You can easily find pipes made of stainless, acid-resistant and polished steel at a price of up to 1,5 thousand. PLN already with assembly. At an online auction, we will buy pipes for the front of the car even cheaper: for a BMW X5 for 1,1 thousand. PLN, and for Mercedes ML or Hyundai Terracana - 990 PLN. A kit for Toyota RAV 4 costs 1,8 thousand. zloty. It's only PLN 300 cheaper than at ASO, but side pipes are also included.

Only in the city

Although shiny massive pipes make the car "more dangerous", it is better not to go off-road with such a closed off-road vehicle. In addition, for true off-road lovers, pipes cause smiles of pity and are the subject of ridicule. Was it jealousy? Not necessary. In real terrain conditions, conventional pipes are not only useless, but also effectively interfere with driving. Shiny steel tubes are usually attached not to the frame, but to the body, due to which the front grille and hood are damaged at the slightest collision.

Some companies take the easy route and install the tubes in places designed for winch hooks. If such a machine gets stuck in difficult terrain, there is nothing to tie the ropes to. What's more, the front tube effectively reduces the so-called angle of attack, making off-road driving difficult. For off-road, only massive steel bumpers with a special edging are attached to the car frame. As a rule, they do not have an attractive design, but they are very durable and protect the car well in the most difficult conditions. Unfortunately, they cost a lot - a professional Nissan Patrol front kit costs about 7,5 thousand. zloty.

Union says no

Already in November last year, the EU countries decided to ban the installation of front protection on cars. This is for pedestrian safety. In most EU countries, the installation of piping on newly purchased cars is already prohibited (however, pipes do not need to be disassembled on previously purchased cars). In Poland, these rules should come into force in June. So far, no one has heard about the planned bans at diagnostic stations. At the three “named” regional inspection stations in Poznań, a roadster with piping will pass inspection without any problems – provided that the design does not cover the headlights.
