Nulevik - air filter of zero resistance

Zero resistance air filter - a filter that allows you to supply air to the engine more quickly and in a larger volume. Most often, a zero-resistance air filter is called for simplicity zero.

For most car enthusiasts, the important question is, what effect will the zero drive give and is it worth installing? What are the consequences of this? Let's figure it out.

The device and differences of zero

The main difference between a zero resistance filter and a standard paper air filter is that, due to its design, it allows air to pass more easily, thereby making the mixture richer, which contributes to better combustion, and, accordingly, better engine operation.

Additionally, if you are still going to buy zero, then now you do not have to change the filter every 10-15 thousand km, since it is enough to maintain (clean) the zero-wheel every 3-5 thousand km. and you don't have to change it. For cleaning filters of zero resistance, there are special sets of shampoos and oils for the treatment of the filter part on sale.

What does zero give

On this occasion, disputes often flare up, some say that the nulevik is doing its job, the car began to “knock down”, others say that nothing seems to have changed. Empirically, when measuring dynamometer, it has been proven that the increase in horsepower is minimal, usually less than 3-5%. Let's say you have an ordinary civilian car with an output of 87 hp. After installing this filter, you will get somewhere between 89-90 hp. Physically, you will never feel this increase until you measure the engine power on the bench.

How to install zero

With the installation of zero, everything is simple. To begin with, you need to dismantle the old regular filter along with the box where it is contained, and fix the zero coil to the air pipe that goes directly to the engine using a clamp.

Conclusion: Many car owners often believe that removing the air filters in principle will make the engine even more powerful, but this is not the case, since during engine development, its power is calculated taking into account the filter resistance losses. In addition, driving a car without an air filter is very harmful to the engine, since all dust and dirt enters the engine, destroying the walls of cylinders, pistons, etc. The ingress of foreign objects into the engine will greatly reduce its resource.

Zero wheel for sports cars with tuned engines

Since we have already decided that a zero-wheel will not help a civil car much, therefore we will conclude that an air filter of zero resistance is present when you pass engine tuning a car being prepared for a competition, that's where seconds and even fractions of seconds are important for victory, and since sports engines have high power, an increase of 10-20 hp can give these cherished seconds to win.

Questions and answers:

What does zero give? A zero resistance filter is called a zero resistance filter. This is a non-standard air filter. It has the same filtering properties as the standard version, only it creates much less inlet resistance.

What is zero and why is it needed? The zero resistance filter reduces the resistance in the intake system. Although the driver will not be able to feel the changes in the motor operation, the power of the unit increases to about 5%.

What is replaced by an air filter? Instead of the standard air filter, the tuners put a zero filter - a filter without a housing, often having a cylindrical shape, and it is installed on the intake pipe.

And how is the nulevik arranged, due to which it allows more air to pass through? Does it cleans worse and allows more dirt to pass through?

Of course, it cleans up just as well, and even more so it does not allow dirt to pass through, this is unacceptable for any motor. It just creates less resistance for air intake, due to its design.
