Impact drill PSB 500 RA

This is the PSB 500 RA Easy rotary hammer from Bosch. Like all DIY tools from this company, it is made in a bright green and black color with clearly visible red switches and a protruding company lettering. The drill is small, compact and handy. This is due to the soft ergonomic handle covered with a material called Softgrip. It is also nice that the drill is light, weighing 1,8 kg, which will allow you to work longer without much fatigue.

Usually the power of the tool is an important parameter for the buyer. This drill has a rated power of 500W and a power output of 260W. The power of the drill is directly proportional to the diameter of the holes being drilled. The more power, the more holes you can drill.

These 500 watts should be enough for daily DIY and housework. We can drill holes up to 25mm in wood and up to 8mm in hard steel. When we are going to drill holes in concrete, we change the tool setting to hammer drilling. This means that the normal drilling function is additionally supported by, so to speak, "tapping". This is a combination of the rotational movement of the drill with its sliding movement.

Fix in the holder a suitable drill bit for drilling holes in concrete with a maximum diameter of 10 millimeters. Does the drilling efficiency largely depend on the pressure exerted on the drill bit? the greater the pressure, the greater the impact energy. The mechanical shock works by rubbing two steel discs with a specially shaped rim against each other.

Remember to mark the hole with a marker on the concrete wall before drilling. This means that we will drill a hole exactly where we want, and not where the drill, sliding on a hard concrete surface, will carry us. The 10mm dowel hole mentioned here is enough to hang not only a small kitchen spice rack, but even a heavier hanging piece of furniture. Moreover, the bolt in concrete works in shear, not in tension. However, for professional use, you need to choose a more powerful tool.

The PSB 500 RA rotary hammer is equipped with a self-locking chuck for quick and efficient bit changes. Although the key clips are stronger, the continuous search for the key can lead to downtime. The self-locking handle helps a lot and that is definitely a plus.

Another valuable convenience is the drilling depth limiter, i.e. a longitudinal bar with a scale fixed parallel to the drill. It determines the depth to which the drill must be inserted into the concrete wall so that the entire dowel can enter the hole. If we don’t have such a limiter, we can glue a piece of colored tape to the drill (on the side of the head), the edge of which will determine the appropriate depth of the hole to be drilled. Of course, the advice does not apply to owners of the PSB 500 RA, as long as they do not lose the limiter. For now, it is enough if they correctly set the stop, trying it on the length of the dowel.

For those who like to drill holes in the wall of their furnished apartment, is a dust extraction connection an excellent solution? this system is available as an option. It's really worth having. Everyone knows how difficult it is to remove the dust that occurs when drilling walls. The bright and tactless remarks of the household on this occasion definitely spoil the joy of hanging a new shelf for spices. The convenience of working with the PSB 500 RA drill is also enhanced by the switch lock. In this case, the drill is in continuous operation, and there is no need to focus on holding the switch button.

If we have a good tool, it is worth taking care of it, so when working in normal mode, remember that you cannot change the operating mode or direction of rotation while the drill motor is on. Drills must be sharp and straight. A crooked or incorrectly installed drill causes vibrations that damage the bearings in the gearbox. A dull drill does not give the desired result. They should be sharpened or replaced. If you feel an increase in the temperature of the tool during operation, stop the operation. Warming is a signal that we are abusing the remedy.

Since the PSB 500 RA drill is reversible, we can also use it to drive and unscrew wood screws. To do this, you must correctly select the speed and direction of rotation. Of course, the appropriate bits must be inserted into the self-locking chuck.

Fixing the drill after work is completed or if it breaks will facilitate a new type of cable with a hook for hanging the tool. Of course, we can also put them in our toolbox. We recommend this wonderful perforator to all needlework lovers.

In the competition, you can get this tool for 339 points.
