Motorcycle care: where to start?

No matter what kind of biker you are, motorcycle maintenance is a must! But this precious asset is often difficult to trust!

Before proceeding with a complete disassembly of your fire, there are a few checks at hand. But where do you start? What are some simple checks and controls to follow, starting with mechanics?

Cleaning, lubrication

Above all, a clean and regularly cleaned motorcycle will indeed be in its best overall condition. Regular cleaning also allows you to monitor all parts of the motorcycle and be able to intervene quickly if any part is faulty. Also take the opportunity to check the lighting of your motorcycle.

Avoid washing Karcher dishes. Indeed, it is too powerful for engine parts. Prefer a simple stream of water or a sponge and water.

Remember to lubricate the chain after a complete cleaning.

Levels

Levels need to be monitored daily and are at the heart of how your motorcycle works. Don't forget to put on the right bike to complete the levels.

The level of oil, coolant, brake fluid and clutch, if it is hydraulic, everything should pass!

battery

Because the motorcycle battery is relatively small, it should be checked regularly. Monitor and recharge each immobilization for several weeks to avoid premature wear. Use the charger to maintain it and extend its life.

cleaning

An oil change is the foundation of a motorcycle overhaul. If you are just starting out with mechanics, draining water is not the most difficult thing. Black oil containing small particles reduces engine performance.

Tires

As the temperature changes, the pressure in the tires changes, so it should be checked regularly. To succeed, this should be done every 2 weeks and before long travel to prevent problems.

Obviously, depending on the load on the bike, the weather or the type of road, the pressure needs to be adjusted. Be careful, tire pressure is always applied when tires are cold!

Chain tension

The tension on the chain is important for your safety. It is important to check it at least every 500 km, as the chain tends to loosen and wear out.
