Step 1: Disassemble the transmission
The gearbox must be removed to gain access to the SPI seal. To do this, remove the cuff of the gear lever, the lever itself and the mounting bolts. Place the transmission on the side where you identified the leak and gain access to the shaft.
Step 2: Replace transmission SPI oil seal
Use a small flat head screwdriver to remove the first SPI seal. Rear ring: remove that too. This will give you access to a second, larger SPI print. Remove it and clean the place of traces of oil.
Install a new seal after applying a small amount of oil to it. Put on a new ring, then replace the small SPI seal, always covering it with several layers of oil.
Step 3. Assemble the gearbox.
After replacing the two SPI gaskets and the bronze bushing, you will need to reassemble the gearbox. Disassemble in reverse order. Finish by making sure the oil has stopped leaking.
