Hella came to the rescue of car owners by presenting an ultrasonic oil level sensor at the IAA in Frankfurt. The driver no longer has to reach for the dipstick to check the oil level. If the level is low, the sensor signals the amount of topping up required and ensures that the engine does not run without the necessary lubrication.

 

In addition, the sensor continuously calculates oil consumption to predict the distance that can be driven, and the driver can check this on the display at any time. Optionally, the oil sensor can be equipped with a special microcircuit, the so-called. a tuning fork that analyzes the condition of the oil, which is influenced by factors such as driving style, pollution, humidity, etc.

The oil condition sensor constantly monitors the most important oil characteristics: viscosity, density. This prevents damage to the engine, as insufficient lubrication is immediately detected and informed to the driver. The oil condition sensor is called a tuning fork because of the similar principle of operation.
