Installing the outdoor temperature sensor

An external air temperature sensor (DTVV) is installed in cars to ensure driver comfort.

AvtoVAZ specialists began to include an outdoor air temperature sensor in the on-board computer of the car. Included in the standard VAZ-2110. The fifteenth model already has a VDO instrument panel with two windows and a temperature display.

Various options for installing DTVV on a VAZ-2110 car have become widespread. The most suitable sensor for this model is with catalog number 2115-3828210-03 and costs about 250 rubles. Its serviceability is usually checked by testing - when the part cools and heats up, the current resistance indicators change.

DTVV must be isolated from moisture, it is also necessary to exclude direct sunlight from falling on it. The sensor must be protected from heat coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. Therefore, the most suitable place to mount the device is at the front of the vehicle or in the immediate vicinity of the towing eye.

Experts do not recommend installing DTVV in the rear of the machine body. Due to the flow of hot air from the engine, temperature readings here can vary significantly.

The sensor itself is equipped with a pair of contacts: one of them is directed to the "ground", and the second gives a signal about a change in temperature. The last contact is made inside the car through a hole next to the fuse box. VAZ-2110 is equipped with on-board computers of two modifications: MK-212 or AMK-211001.

In such on-board computers, the second contact of the sensor must be connected to C4 on the MK block. At the same time, I pull out the protruding free wire and then carefully isolate it.

If the DTVV is connected incorrectly or an open circuit occurs, the following will appear on the on-board computer screen: “- -”.

Connecting DTVV to the VAZ-2115 is quite simple, since this car is equipped with a VDO panel with two screens.

The sensor cable is connected to the red block X2 in socket No. 1 on the dashboard of the car.

If there is already a cable in the outlet, you must combine these cables. When the display shows the value "-40", it is worth checking for breaks in the electrical circuit in the area between the panel and the sensor.

By connecting a sensor, you can change the backlight color of the VDO panel and displays.
