Toulouse is preparing to invest in self-service electric scooters

The municipality has selected two operators to install the self-service electric scooters. The first deployments are expected this summer.

A true phenomenon, self-service electric scooters continue to invest in major cities. While there are already several services in Paris, the two operators are gearing up to launch their devices in Toulouse. The deployment was initiated by the municipality, which in April last year issued a call for expressions of interest to install electric scooters on its territory. Jean-Luc Modenco's election pledge, which allowed the selection of two operators.

Indigo Weel, already established in Toulouse with a fleet of self-service bikes, will introduce its first electric scooters by the end of July. Pioneer Cityscoot was the second company selected. Already operating similar devices in Paris and Nice, the operator is investing in the pink city in autumn. In both cases, the devices will work on the principle of "free floating" - an application that allows you to place and reserve scooters nearby.

« Subject to our conditions, especially in the geographical space, the city could accommodate 600 electric scooters. »Estimates by Jean-Michel Latte, President of Tisséo Collectivités and Vice President of Toulouse Métropole in charge of travel, interviewed by Act.fr

As far as tariffs are concerned, each operator will remain free to set their own prices, knowing that the municipal council must meet this Friday, June 15th, to fix the cost of occupying the public domain, which should be in the order of € 30 per year per year. Kick scooter.
