Deliveroo switches to electric scooter in London

A delivery specialist has teamed up with rental company Elmovo to launch an electric scooter rental service for its drivers.

Like Uber, whose Uber Green service specializes in electric vehicles, Deliveroo is not immune to electrification. Wanting to encourage its drivers to go entirely to electricity, a delivery specialist has just launched an unprecedented rental deal on the streets of London.

This new offer, created in partnership with rental company Elmovo, allows interested drivers to rent an electric scooter for delivery.

Provided by German Govecs, these electric scooters are rented with all their equipment and insurance. They reach speeds of up to 50 km / h at maximum speed and can cover from 90 to 120 kilometers without recharging.

“Deliveroo wants every dish to be truly extraordinary. Along with the excellent cuisine we offer, this is only possible if the delivery is sustainable,” explains Dan Warne, Managing Director of Deliveroo.

For starters, the fleet will consist of 72 electric scooters in Deliveroo color. They will pay £ 1,83 / hour or € 2,13. More than 500 drivers have already shown interest in the system, according to Deliveroo. Enough to stimulate the company to rapidly expand its vehicle fleet and replicate the principle in other major cities in Europe.
